These areas of the game has to be fixed for Immersion

These areas are long overdue and can't just continue to be the same especially on Next Gen it's unacceptable

While I do think 22 is a better game then 21 it still feels like it's lacking the Next Gen feel in certain things

    1. Graphics/presentation
New Player models- It's time for various body types. Players like Tyreke & Ekeler aren't represented well in this game. They are short and stocky and the game doesn't reflect that

Camera system- See MLB the Show- NBA 2k, Fifa,etc.. Give us some customization we've asked for years. I actually like the effect where the camera changes during pressure

Weather- Give us customization we are playing an outside sport where weather does matter. The snow in older gen games looks better than Next Gen(Totally unacceptable) Good example of Light Snow vs Heavy Snow
Weather should affect movement(Next Gen Stats?) and game planning.

(https://www.wired.com/2007/08/madden/) EA Games to Incorporate Real-Time Weather

Lighting- The lighting is the same from last gen. We are on far more powerful systems. Where is the Ray Tracing & enhanced lighting etc..?
Why is one side of the field dark and the other side is bright and vibrant.

Why is there not different lighting variations?
MLB the show does this great.
they have 11am,1pm,3pm,5pm,7pm lighting for each different month. June 5pm will look different then November 5pm.
California lighting also should be different at 7pm from New York and Miami

Shouldn't we be receiving higher quality assets and at least an upgraded grass on the field.

Animations- Yes they are better and so is player movement(much better) At this point we we still should have better running animations and more signature styles also. We also need more variety of animations around the sidelines and in the trenches.

Clock Management- A sour area for the Madden franchise. There needs to be a attribute/slider for how the QB handles the 2 minute drill or last minute drives, etc..
Also there should be a game planner before games on how the team plans to approach the game as far as controlling the clock. Will teams run more vs KC to keep Mahommes off the field?!
Right now clock management is not that good.

I'll give the game a 6.5/10 at this moment. I do see myself playing it a ton but I'm disappointed in the next gen offering.

This is a excellent thread and hopefully someone from EA takes feedback.

    My biggest gripe is weather....

How the heck do they just copy and paste the field from old Gen to Next Gen for snow games?

I have some other issues but none any bigger than their lack of detail to weather in a Football game.

Weather had more impact on my XBOX 360 days and you could even choose the forecast.

There should also sometimes be a simulation of Fog doing games in Chicago for example.

Come on EA people spent their hard earned on money on these NG consoles to purchase your product and your cutting corners on weather effects.

I just wish snow looked like snow and there was variety throughout the game.

Yes, it's amazing with the tech we have now how older games are still doing better then our current offerings. They moved to Frostbite for weather effects but we have yet to see the improvement.

It's the attention to detail like the fog in Chicago that set you apart and Madden doesn't have that atm.

I cringed when I saw the snow on the field looked exactly the same. I am in complete agreement that much older version of Madden really captured weather better than anything recently. Water on the helmets in closeups is cool and all but there is so much more to weather that is far more important than that.

Good post, I completely agree. I would also add to that collision detection & player physics still needs improvement mainly post play. Still inconsistent with player clipping (limbs fusing through body parts, stepping through bodies on the ground, rolling through legs of lineman, etc.) This stuff hurts immersion.

Let's also not forget Refs on the field. It's been said they're adding them back next year but it sucks we have to go another year without them.

Re: These areas of the game has to be fixed for Immersion

It's amazing how two gens ago franchise felt like a contiguous world. As mentioned, there was progressive lighting, and games on the west coast games would have the normal 1pm lighting.

In addition to that, playing a later day game farther into the season would result in the transition to nighttime over the course of four quarters. Playing a later game in September would only bring you to dusk by the end of the game.

There used to be variable weather conditions, and you could have cold and sunny games, and people in the crowd and on the sidelines would dress appropriately for the temperature range at that time of year in that region and not according to one of three weather presets. For years now, if you play a sunny game in Green Bay in January, the crowd will show up in shorts and sun visors while players on the field have handwarmers and there's visible breath.

It all adds up to no feeling that the world existing in franchise is a connected simulation of teams from all over the country journeying through a September to February season. I don't feel like we'll ever get those small details back.

I know it would only be fun for like 1 Quarter, but I really want the ability to play a game like this!

I haven’t checked this yet in ’22 so the point may be moot, but it makes me nuts when it’s getting dark at the end of a game that started at ‘4:15pm’ on the West Coast. I put it in quotes because the game started at 4:15 Eastern Time, 1:15 Pacific Time.
Also, last night I played Week 1 in Houston and the coaches had what looked to be wearing pretty heavy jackets. September…in Houston… with the roof open.
It was also raining in a game in Landover and fans had on knit hats with the ear coverings…in Maryland…in September.
These are pretty minor in terms of enjoying the game itself, and I have enjoyed it thus far, but fixing some of these items would help immersion.

that's exactly the type of snow game we should occasionally see in Madden on NG consoles.

Gave a long and detailed feedback post on the beta forums about lighting. There is no difference between the 6:00 pm and the 8:00 pm start time lighting. The frustrating part is they have the correct lighting in the game, the 4th qtr lighting in 4:30 pm start time games needs to be the 1st qtr lighting in 6 pm start time games, then it can transition into darkness.

It's laziness at this point imo. Not being held accountable and just overall passion for their work.

Don't worry everything you said will be added back as the main feature in 15 years just like the momentum system ripped out of NCAA 07.

I have 2 things that kill the immersion for me. They want to show players without helmets and show player models on the upgrade screen but 90 percent of the league is a random generated faces. You can only selected pre generated faces. Its lazy and just makes me turn off the game. Either add face scans or let us customize faces or hire someone to do it.

Second all these "game planning" options are good in theory.....to check box on your to do list making the game because you were called out by EVERYONE. For example why would I want to have a 'plus' to inside blocking and a negative to outside blocking. Of course I going to be more incline to run the ball thus handicapping my ability to run outside and becoming 1 dimensional and predictable in the process. This may work for the "pros" who run the same five plays a game but please EA don't tout this as authentic realism.

I'll add another immersion breaker: the social justice messages on the back of the helmets. I know some players in the league will continue to use them, but it's going to be a lot rarer from what I've seen in the preseason. I think everyone in the world wants to "End Racism." I'm even fine with "It Takes All of Us" or "End Racism" in the back of the end zone. Yet, every player simply isn't wearing this on the back of the helmet anymore. I hope Kane can get this in via patch.
