Just bought. When will it be safe to start franchise?

Hey guys, my answers could probably be found, but ya know, they removed the abilities of the Search function a while back due to some technical difficulties or something. So I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I did go through several pages looking before I posted and gave myself a headache. BTW, I did get the MVP edition just in case i'm ever able to get a PS5, but for now i'm still on the PS4 cause ya know, some people had to snag all the PS5s as soon as they were listed and then sell them for ungodly high prices. Still cannot believe people were dumb enough to pay those prices, but that's another subject, SMH....

So anyway, I finally decided to get Madden 22 last night, and wondering what all is going to be fixed, and when, before I start my franchise. So I read in one review where the author mentioned how the game constantly freezes/locks up in every mode of the game. He said for instance in franchise, a lot of times he would play a game and then after the game was over it would freeze and he would lose all progress including the game itself, all stats, anything he unlocked, etc. is that really happening, and is it going to be fixed? I also see a lot of mention of some problem with scouting, and that this problem has to be patched prior to starting a franchise, as in a pre-existing franchise cannot have the scouting problem patched. I have no idea what other problems the game has. Also do not know what has to be fixed before a franchise is started and what can be patched in a pre-existing franchise.

So, I know many of you on here are more informed than me as to what all the problems are and any talks of patches to fix them. Could you all please tell me all the problems with the game that would make me want to hold off on starting my franchise, and which ones are being fixed and when they will be patched. Thank you for any and all info.

The Scouting update isnt out yet and will require a franchise restart. Due out sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

I started a temp franchise to scratch the itch, but the scouting update is when I’ll start the franchise that I’ll invest heavily in.

So the patch for the scouting is the only one that will require us to start a new franchise? All other patches will patch existing franchises just as they have before?

It’s the only one they’ve said will require a new Franchise.

If they update player portraits for rookies, will those changes take effect for an existing franchise?

If so, safe to start now, knowing that the scouting update will require a restart - but also that if the scouting update is bad or broken, you’ll be glad you didn’t wait.

I sure hope so, I would really like to start my Franchise now, but have to wait on this update and definitely don't wanna wait on any further updates.

I’m one year in and I agree. It has been fun. It’s slow but it’s fun.

I'd say perfectly safe to start a franchise now. Game play is fantastic & the only thing they currently might need to tune is progressive fatigue, though there are multiple ways of managing that currently.

The scouting update sounds cool, but I think it's fair to say on the basis of how progressive fatigue currently works that there's no guarantee the scouting update, when it drops, works as intended and contains the CPU logic necessary to allow parity within solo offline franchises.

So, I think it's safe to start now if you want. You'll have more features if you wait, but you can absolutely enjoy a franchise now if you like.

I’d like to see this as well. I remember hearing in one of the talks, that they are cognizant but don’t remember them saying it would never happen.

If we get a 2nd feature as good and robust as scouting this year I don't care if we have to restart. I get the hesitancy of EA to release a ton of restart-necessary patches, but if that's what makes them hold big features I just don't like that decision. I would rather get features now and restart if I want to use them than have to wait for next August to get those features.
