    Shooting meter on or off

Hey guys im wondering is everyone using the shot meter or are people turning it off and only using it for free throws. If you aren’t using the shot meter do you have any tips on when to release the ball. I ask because shot meter is pissing me off. I put it right at the line and still miss and its getting annoying

I have it off, even for FTs... to me the key is learn the release in practice (using shooting feedback) but basically my rule is looking to the animation and release when the players do the last flick of the wrist...

I have it off for everything. I don't like having too much extra stuff on the screen as it takes me out of the experience just a bit. I wish I could turn green indicators off as well, just because I don't like knowing I made a shot before it's even gone in. I do have the shot feedback on, but that's about it.

The only tip I can give, other than go into practice mode and get used to your team's shooting forms, is to release the ball when the player begins his forward flick motion. If you wait for when the ball is coming out of his hand, you're probably going to be late.

I have it off entirely. I think the added “boost” to make shots helps and the fact I learn a player’s release pretty quick.

Is the boost for turning off the shot meter legit?

I've turned mine off this year. I still leave it on for free throws, but I've turned the shot meter off for regular play. I normally play with the shot meter on through years past, but the meter seems really bad this year. I couldn't get anything to drop, so I dropped the shot meter and improved my shooting to 14%...

I have never even attempted the shot meter nor will I ever. Talk about immersion killer. I don’t know how people play that mini game? I just learn my players releases.

off....release at the top of the jump or like other posters said, as the shooter is just about to bring the ball forward to release

Those of us who put time into editing player sig shots arent going to stare at that damn meter.

Hit the practice court, learn your players jumpshot releases. make sure to experiment with stepbacks, moving jumpers etc.

It's a little more complicated to just "learn your players jumpshot" when you are playing MyNBA and have to learn the shots of 15 different players, who then rotate out season to season when you make trades and sign free agents, all who have different shots which throws off the timing from player to player.

Not everyone plays MyCareer with just one player they can master.

You do get a nice boost for it off though

I'm currently trying with it off, for the first time since it's been added.

My shooting improved from 0% to 14%.

I only play 5 v 5 offline. When I get a new player, I hit the practice court.

Does anyone know how to turn it off in mycareer on nextgen? I usually only play 2K with the meter off as I HATE that meter, but haven't found in the menus where to turn it off at.

*Edit* I found the shot meter. nvm.

Until they stop giving us a bonus for it being off, I don't know why anyone uses a shot meter. It breaks immersion for me and I'm watching the wrong thing instead of a jumpshot motion. That said, the jumpshot meter was beautiful on 2k20, these last 2 years it's been terrible imo.
