Jeffruel 2k22 Fictional Draft Classes (PS5)

Hey guys. I'm back again for 2k22, this time on the PS5. I'll update this forum as updates come. Fair warning, I will not be able to go as in-depth with the in season updates this year, but am putting more time into the scouting reports. I'll still be sure to build the immersion for you all.

Each class will have stars, busts, role players, etc. and thanks to the boom or bust function, every MyLeague will be different. There are some guys I have designed as a bust (100% bust rate), or sleepers (100% boom rate), but then there are guys who I truly leave it up to chance (50% boom, 50% bust).

If you guys have any questions, please reach out! Thanks again for the support.

Please let me know how you think the classes are or if you have any questions at all. I am open to all criticism because I am just trying to make the game more enjoyable for everyone else. Let me know if I need to tweak anything at all or if you found something weird. Lastly, I would love to hear about how these guys are doing in your MyLeague, so once you use them, let me know!

Finally, and one of the most important things. Make sure you take control of all 30 teams after the draft and sign all the 2nd round picks. The computer never signs 2nd round picks. If you do not do this, it will never give the sleepers time to develop. It is also not realistic.

    Draft Class 1

Fair warning, I am currently coaching football, so these first couple classes might be a bit slow, but mid October I'll pick up the pace. I do want to show you guys the format my classes will be taking on this year with a top 10 player preview for draft class 1. Let me know what you guys think! Below is the top 10 scouting report. The rest will be finished at a later date!

What is the rating scale for your draft classes. I'm asking because this is the first year I'll be playing on playstation (I have been playing 2K on Xbox 1 for the past 4 or 5 years). I feel that the base rosters for 2K have many players rated too high simply because of the optics and politics around ratings. Personally I've always re edited the rosters or used SimWorlds rosters. I feel like at no time in the league should there be more than like 6-10 players in the 90s and that league average players should be in the mid 70s. So will you have a number of players with potential in the 90s or just a few per class? Also how many players do you plan to have in your classes?

Well welcome to the PS5 community brother! Community is real nice as I feel like we can all talk about fictional players that have been created for the last 3-4 years now. Check out JB's draft classes as well, as he does great work and its who got me into fictional classes. https://forums.operationsports.com/f...t-classes.html

I think you will find that you and I are on the same page as far as ratings go. I do not like high inflated ratings with the majority of the league over 80. I align my ratings with the ATD roster as well as the tendencies (I worked on the ATD project last year). Even after the ATD Roster is finished, I will bump down a couple ratings due to personal preference.

I have plenty of players with 90+ potential, but very few of them ever make it that far. I use peak start and peak end to make that happen, thus creating busts.

I went back and did research on every draft class from 1985-2020 and have found the average number of Busts, Bench, Role, Borderline Star, Star, HOF, and Generational talents in each draft class. It won’t be the same every year, as some years could be stronger than others.

My ratings are typically lower like the roster CelticLG created, but this is how I view overalls.
        Bench: Under 73 overall
        Role: 74-79
        Borderline Star: 80-82
        Star: 83-87
        Hall of Fame: 88-90
        Generational: 90+

Obviously those are arbitrary and every MyLeague is different, but these are the guidelines I used when creating players. A lot of this also depends on the progression and regression sliders which I usually set regression at 60, and progression at 40-42 depending on the year. I'll toy around with this later.

I edit 60 players so a full 2 rounds. Every single thing gets edited on them. I'll even tough up 61-72 for people who run expansion MyLeagues, but thats really just the tendencies, major appearance stuff, and getting rid of WNBA animations.

Take a look at my page from last year if you want an idea of the type of stuff I put out last year!

Let me know if you have any other questions, as I'm more than happy to help.

What layout you use for your scouting report? This new layout is nice, and it reminds me of something you'd see from the ringer

I’m really liking the new scouting report look. Take your time. Personally, I never really crank up MyLeague until Celtic and his team get the opening day rosters out.

It’s definitely where I got my idea. I was looking online and thought that the ringer had the easiest draft guide to replicate, and I really liked their format. If you follow the ringer closely, you’ll definitely see some familiar stories.

Floored by the look of the scouting report man... love that you mimicked The Ringer. If you added a "Shades Of" section, I think it would be damn near perfection.

Believe me, I would love to. Basketball reference was my go to for figuring out historical players who put up similar stats to my prospects based on height/position, etc. They just started making you pay for the season finder feature unfortunately, so it would be tough for me to really come up with unique comparisons every year. Once I get into the lesser known guys it makes it hard for me to draw comparisons without basketball reference. If someone has another site I could use I'm definitely open to suggestions.

I have finished the scouting report for DC-1 and it is posted below. Still super busy coaching football, so I am only getting around to creating 3-5 prospects a night. Should be a bit quicker now that the scouting report is completed. Let me know what you guys think!

Man. You have really raised the bar with these scouting reports. Can’t wait to start this once the opening day roster drops.

Thanks for the answer, this is exactly what I wanted to hear!! Having those few extra players in the classes are clutch for potential G-Leaguers/undrafted roster players. I like your approach and I'm certainly looking forward to running with your classes. It's also good to know that your DCs are in line with the ATD rosters since that's the roster I plan on using. This will be a good year!!

As you know I’m a big fan of your classes, though I won’t be getting on the 2k22 train this year. Still wanted to follow along.

One thing I found on 2k21 was that the G League and Summer League went to hell when draft classes were stopping at 60 players and everyone else was a 40. For the draft, yes this helps know who to draft and not to, but it makes G League a dumpster fire of low scoring games and unrealistic stats. One thing I found helpful was to make all the non-drafted players have their overalls sit around 60-61, assuming the worst player in your draft is around 63-64 overall. I also would set their potential to be 65-68 and then leave them untouched.

This allows the G League to still be bad, but not so bad that guys average 30 rebounds a game.

Of course don’t let that impact your process, but for anyone that enjoys playing G League or Summer League games to try out rookies, it’s a nice personal edit anyone can make on their own if they want to.
