offensive 3 seconds, what am i missing?

by Towns, which start the 1st pass.

dont he stayed in the zone by more (by far) than 3 seconds?

I'm sure I'm not interpreting the rule correctly, can someone clarify it to me?

Both feet have to simultaneously touch down on the court paint for 3 consecutive seconds. Towns in the clip looks like one of his feet is out on a few separate occasions. At that point, all you need to do is raise the other foot that's in the paint off the ground by an inch & you reset the count.

All that being said, I've still always thought 2k was too exact on the 3 second rule. Its always been an exaggerated 3 seconds in real life, not actual 3 seconds

wait what? is it really like that in the NBA? in FIBA, to reset the 3 second counter the ball either needs to touch the rim or you need both feet to touch the floor outside the paint. as long as one foot is touching a small bit of the paint or the line, then the 3 seconds continue.

and I don't think that 2k is exact at all regarding 3 seconds. there are possessions where one player stays inside the paint for like 6 or 7 seconds and it doesnt get called.

Both feet have to leave the area to reset in the nba

              That's only for the offense.

we are talking offense. as if defensive 3 would be important in this game. the AI never ever plays the helpside and thus never ever spends 3 or more seconds in the paint.

This is something the game does purposefully, at least in my estimation.

I make a big every year and end up watching this often, especially when the AI is clearly trying to manufacture an outcome. It's like the games where the CPU will not miss because it is determined to beat you no matter what, so if you shoot 65%, they'll shoot 70%.

This is especially infuriating when I am trying to establish position in the paint and my AI teammates ignore me. Then when trying to run out of the paint (this was much worse in previous 2K's), the CPU defender will get these grab and bump animations that are impossible to trigger as a user. A lot of times these animations would trigger a three second violation literally the moment the clock hit three seconds.

Thankfully 2K offers me options to not have to deal with this full time like I would if I played Madden. With PNO Allstar TeamUp, Rec, Pro-Am, Park, etc., I never have to put up with the AI's shenanigans if I can't deal with it that day.

This is *technically* true. Which is why some players will step one foot outside the paint and just lift the second foot up and tap outside the paint at two to three second intervals to reset the clock and exploit this loophole.

Yes, this or a "tap dance" resets the count.

From NBA to FIBA, it's pretty loosely enforced. Seasoned refs will even give them a "get out of there" warning..
