NHL 22 Gamechanger Sliders (6 Minutes - Superstar)

    Hey Everyone!

Thanks for checking out the sliders! I labeled these the "game changer" sliders as I feel like my slider values are quite different from the "norm" and I'm really excited to share them with everyone! A quick disclaimer here though, I do use a completely custom roster which I will release on the XSX whenever roster sharing becomes available. All of these values might not play nicely with default roster, but they also might so I figured I'd share my values for the community in hopes that in inspires others or helps other find their perfect mix of values from all of the great slider makers on here. After all, the long-time slider guru's are who influenced me and I'm always trying to learn and take things from other sets in hopes that it will make my own set the best possible personal experience when I'm playing.

Make sure to leave any comments below! I'd love to discuss what you like and don't like. No slider set is for everyone, but hopefully there's something to get you thinking about your set on here. Thanks!

    Main Goals of the set:

    1. Adding realism/unpredictability without sacrificing fun (not overly sloppy/slow) by allowing attributes to influence the more "automatic" parts of the game (shooting, puck pickups, etc) more than OOTB settings. I also use fully unassisted passing as it allows for both the unlimited creativity that only full manual passing can provide while also making even the most opportune chances anything but a "gimmie" as good execution is ALWAYS required.

    2. Make the CPU opponent more human by nerfing their robotic agility and puck pickups. This allows for much more zone time as forechecking is now effective and fun. You'll see times where the CPU has a buff (speed) and times where the human has a buff (acceleration). This is 100% an effort at total balance, not nerfing the computer into oblivion.

    3. Make scoring fun exciting again by utilizing auto aim which mitigates human exploitation and allows for goalie reaction times and stats to be lowered in-order to allow for more organic scoring. No more "money" goals (short-side cheese) but also allows for a lot more "bang-bang" one-timer plays and chaotic rebound sequences where you can focus on positioning and passing (as it's fully manual) and just let your guys hack away.

    4. Player separation is achieved through a custom roster that takes heavy advantage of the new x-factor and superstar abilities.

    5. Creating a pace where skaters can reach realistic top-end speeds, can be agile and responsive when necessary, but also have enough weight to them in-order to prevent unrealistic agility and handling at top speed.

Sorry, accidentally forgot that one! Human is set to 50 (not sure it does much of anything when assist is totally off) and CPU is set to 80 (trust me, this works).

Thanks for sharing! I played three games last night with these and really enjoyed them. Hitting power for the Human is a little juiced but everything else seems solid. Do you use the default sliders for penalties?

I agree. I played two games. I won 4-0,2-1. I had very fun! Hitting power is high a bit. I had brutal hits. I have played pro so far. I never won on superstar yet. Unbelievable! Thanks!

Haven't played much with penalties tbh. I turned down the CPU interference and holding so they didn't take like 10 dumb penalties a game, but will have to look into these more.

LOL guys that was a HUGE typo, my mistake there! Human checking should be FIVE (5) not 50!! I turned CPU interference down to 50 and holding to like 35 just to mitigate their obsession with taking those two calls, but other than that I have not played around with penalties, more concerned with nailing the gameplay down before diving into those too much.

And honestly guys, don't be afraid to give feedback on CPU shooting/Human goalies as I'm not as concerned about that part when I play due to the fact that I play as both teams for 1/2 the game. I'd love to update some of those settings for people who due play a single team experience so that they can judge the set from a better perspective in that regard.

I do the 1/2 the game thing and I try to score anywhere from 4-8 combined goals regardless of team, so that's how I've been judging these, but felt like my very different approach could make people ponder/expand for their own usage. Glad you guys are trying it out, thank you!

Glad you liked them! This has been a very fun set for myself. Giving the CPU a boost has actually made me want to play fast and use my whole arsenal of tricks find open space as it's been quite hard to generate good looks.

To add further context to how I play:
I actually set all strategy adjustments to 0/6 (I put 3 on the main page as people default to single-team experiences) and I set every team to:
                    1-2-2 Aggressive,
                    1-4 trap,
                    3/6 FC/NZ,
Normal Offense (up to Full attack when usering)
                    High Pressure defense
                    Collapsing
Then set every line and D pairing to 0/10 cycle/shoot.

Loving how aggressive the CPU is one the puck, and fully manual passing means you do not have a lot of time to make decisions.

I think that they are fantastic. I was looking to move up to Superstar with my set. I am going to use this set and make some small changes with things that I really like with my own. I will post them below.

Just trying these out now and I’m enjoying very much. Plays much different than the other sets I’ve tried on here and thank goodness 6 minute periods.

Awesome! I'm glad you were able to take so much! I'll give your mods a shot and see how I like them because I was possibly looking to get these to play at a little longer period length which I see you do!

Yeah I personally am going to be running an entire league playing every game so I need game times to not be super long. I could see going to 7-8 minutes, but I'm not sure I get there without too many goals being scored or making the game over frustrating to keep scores low.

Will have to keep tinkering, maybe I'll post a separate 8-10 minute set, but really liking these for 6 minutes atm. Glad you liked them, thanks for giving them a try!

I'll be posting another sort of radical take on the slider here shortly. As I watch more and more NHL games on TV, I was really wanting to reproduce the lack of time and space to make decisions on the ice. It will be a game speed 6/6 based set that involves some crazy aggressive CPU play but it might just be the most realistic I've seen them play gaps and spaces in awhile. If only the human's AI wanted the puck even half as bad as the CPU AI, this game would be consistently fun rather than inconsistently fun.
