    MyNBA - Potential

    Specific to MyNBA…

Can someone’s potential increase or decrease over their career? Or is this fixed regardless of performance?

    Thanks!

Not sure if it naturally evolves via the Progression / Regression system but it’s definitely intended to be a changeable attribute. For instance, summer training camps have an option to boost a player’s potential.

I don't think this will fully answer your question, but it definitely can change. Here is an excerpt from a November 2020 article by Brian Mazique in Forbes:
Younger players in the league will now have a more dynamic growth path using the Boom/Bust system. Players can have low and high-potential floors, low and high-potential ceilings, and a probability to boom, bust, or hit somewhere in between. In addition, until age 23, we will continue to determine the player’s potential based on multiple factors to make it so that every player will still be exciting during the developmental years. The same player could have wildly different growth paths in each save, so keeping up with scouting prospects after they’re in the league will be critical to building a dynasty.
I have seen it change between seasons, although I don't recall it changing a lot. Then again, I haven't really tested it. I'm also not certain how much it will progress after age 23.

I think it's also possible for players to exceed their potential and thus push it up. If a player is 80 and has reached potential then through training or acquiring badges is pushed to 81, the potential goes up. However, I don't think that was your meaning.

I feel like due to MyNBA being less popular there are a lot of hidden mechanics we'll never fully understand without access to a developer to answer questions. There are so many development factors: training, load management, mentors, coach badges, potential, potential low/high, boom/avg/bust, etc. Recently, I've been trying to figure out if the boom/bust assignment occurs once or if it occurs every time progression occurs.
