    MLB Lockout

I figured we could have a thread to specifically talk about the lockout and any negotiation that might be happening.

For starters, the MLB has scrubbed their website of the offseason signings, and replaced all players profile photos on their site.

Any guesses on when the lockout ends? Before pitchers and catchers report? Before ST? Before opening day? Does this go down in history with the 04/05 NHL season?

It's not really that surprising now that it's happened, but the fact that they've pretty much tried to erase all current players from the MLB owned websites is wild to me. It's weird lol.

It is so strange. This just sucks, but at least some players are having fun with it, lol.

Feb 12 is my guess when it ends.. I think panic will start when we hit Feb.. now if no deal is made before feb 12 we are screwed and will start missing some spring training games then some actual real games.

I think by the end of January at the latest. These guys must have learned something from the mid '90's lockout. The sport is less popular now than it was then. They'll come to their senses fans won't put up with too much. Lots of people scrambling and out of work billionaires fighting over money with millionaires won't play.

I’m guessing once it gets close to pitchers and catchers reporting they’ll get serious and hammer out a deal. Then we get another free agent signing frenzy.

Like I said in another thread, I don't believe we'll see any loss of games either regular season or spring training.

One silver lining to the pandemic and 2020 season, is that no one (owners & players) wants to lose anymore revenue. So I'm expecting sometime in mid-late January for this thing to be resolved.

Right now, both are just posing for the media and claiming the other is at fault.

They know what the middle ground is, they will just play the war of words and hero/villain scenario until the "last minute".

Didn't know the Mets left anyone on the table.

It reminds me of the older MLB video games where some guys couldn't be in the game.

We got the legends like Jon Dowd.

Imagine MLB The Show but all players are replaced by generic guys.

"Today's Starting Pitcher for the Blue Jays will be Starting Pitcher, who was previously the Marlins starting pitcher who was recently acquired via trade for the Blue Jays outfielder Left Field."

Bacon's fictional roster does this, and it's excellent. I don't play The Show with real rosters anymore

Looking forward to having SS Francisco Toledo III, 3B Miles Moreno, and 2B Jason Commonwealth on the Padres.

Never too late for a comeback. I'm only 40(ish) pounds above my playing weight, lemme grab a few, ah, nutritional supplements out of the basement, I should be good to go by mid-Feb.

Rule 5 Draft will take place shortly after the new CBA is signed.

The two sides met on Thursday. Reports are they discussed various topics aside from the core economic issues which is the biggest hurdle to overcome to getting a new CBA in place.
