How does a QB go from star to superstar development in a year?

I am trying specifically NOT to get my franchise QB to superstar ability before the end of the season, as his contract would be insanely bad in that case.

So ideally, I do not want to be running up the scores and stat padding in games with the QB when not necessary. What are the requirements to move from star to superstar development?

Going into week 7 my QB has 1,640 yards 9 TD's and 11 interceptions, but has also rushed for 350 yards and 2 Rush TD's.

Would even getting him to 1,000 rushing yards as a QB move him to superstar development? What are the QB passing yard requirements?

Last season he moved from normal to star development after passing for 4,700 yards 37 TD's 31 picks, and 833 rushing yards for 6 TD's

    Resign him in season

Amongst all quarterbacks in the league, if your QB finishes outside the top 7 in both season passing yards and season passing touchdowns, he will not advance his dev trait to Superstar.

If your QB accumulates at least 750 rushing yards and 8 rushing TDs on the season, then you need to stay outside the top 10 in those passing stats on the season instead.

I'm in the 2nd to last year of his contract currently so he'd progress in the offseason and if he moved up to superstar development my entire team would be screwed cap wise.

thank you very much. so interceptions and turnovers have nothing to do with development?

and just to clarify, if he got 750 rush yards, 8 td's, and let's say was top 10 in passing yards but NOT top 10 in passing TD's he wouldn't move to superstar development?

You could resign him next season and edit the contract. Part of the challenge of building a contender is making those tough choices.

But in terms of keeping the stats down, once you have a playoff spot locked, just play your back up.

Or late in games you are leading, bring in your back up to keep the starter's stats down.

You could also just edit the QB back to star. The game readjusts the first week of the playoffs.
