This is the worst defensive team in the league but in this game they play like the greatest team of all-time. Carmelo is even rated 80+ coming of the bench. Dwight is nearly an 80 in the game yet he's unplayable in real life.

2022 Lakers are the best defensive team in this game
Just had maybe the two worst offensive games of my life back-to-back on play now online. I'm up to I think the 4th tier (Euro league), and at the level a guy who knows the game is impossible to score on with the lakers. Somehow the whole team was on me like glue and the user just controlled AD the whole game and he can guard all 5 positions at the same time. Mix in a little bit of lag and I don't know if I got off a single wide open release all game. Even if I was wide open with AD on the other end of the court, he could cover in time to register as at least somewhat contested.

That's what happens when a game focuses more on putting CROCS for sale in the store than NBA content. -

Re: 2022 Lakers are the best defensive team in this game
The answer is actually pretty simple, & it's been a problem in 2k for about an entire decade now:
Look at how many impirtant defensive badges are on all those players, ranging from bronze to HOF. When you have a combo of 5 guys with clamps, rim protector, intimidator, def leader, worm, reb chaser, pick pocket, dodger, menace, pest,.......etc, it's hard to do a whole lot against that.
Then you look at a team like the 2003 Mavs, who have a literal grand total of ZERO def badges that matter outside of Shawn Bradley. That team is borderline unusable unless you have Bradley's 7'6 giant self in there, not because of his height, but because he's the only one with any def badges on that team whatsoever.
Badges have destroyed the integrity of any realistic aspect that should be present.Last edited by Cowboyfan_19; 01-28-2022, 12:11 PM.Comment

Re: 2022 Lakers are the best defensive team in this game
This a really subjective comment. I don't have any problem with the lakers and I am in the 8 or 9th tier. Not to mention, they are INCREDIBLY easy to guard by using a zone.Just had maybe the two worst offensive games of my life back-to-back on play now online. One of the main reasons I stopped playing online 7 years ago with 2K.
2K's unrealistic rosters and sliders combined lag was bad.True bout my business, Mane!Comment

Re: 2022 Lakers are the best defensive team in this game
A lot of 2K's defensive ratings are reputation based for older players. While guys like Lebron, CP3 and Westbrook were great defenders a few years ago, they definitely don't play defense at the same level. But on 2K their defensive ratings are still great.Comment

I forget which 2k it was but Carmelo had like a 90 D rating?!?! He has always been one of the worst defenders!Comment

Re: 2022 Lakers are the best defensive team in this game
Badges aren't necessarily the problem. It's the fact that they don't take them away from legacy players. I think lebron the the second best defender in the entire game. He is essentially rudy Golbert in the paint. The answer is actually pretty simple, & it's been a problem in 2k for about an entire decade now:

What a joke. Meanwhile in real life bench warmers keep dropping career highs on his head.Comment

Yeah, when it actually comes down to it-
AD is a pain, as is LBJ on the perimeter but their wings are really small and easy to exploit.
Now last year, they might as well have been the ‘04 Pistons. On top of having AD back there, You could cover the entire floor with Bron.
Lakers put no fear in my heart PNO wiseComment
