NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
I maybe in the minority but as a strictly offline gamer that tries to mimic the current NHL season presentation and the announcers mean quite a big deal as far as immersion is concerned.
This announcer is not exactly what I prefer or is to my liking. My hope is that in the very near future as Next Gen takes total control of the series is that we see some movement in getting another announcer. I really do like the woman that talks in between face-offs as it adds something a little different then we have seen in the past. Also the overlays on the ice are a welcomed edition. Hopefully we can get something sooner than later in this area even with the budget restrictions the NHL series is constantly plagued with. I would like to know what our other offline gamers that play like me think? |
Re: NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
It seems like they need announcers based out of Vancouver. Jim Hughson is retired and John Shorthouse + John Garrett have never been linked to doing it for whatever reason.

Old timer/old fart Off line Season Lifelong NHL nerd here. With me, the last 4 years , despite the games opening months of bugs, patches, then re patches to fix the bugs that the new patches replaced cycle--(which just all become the norm of the game from Oct -Jan---the series`s epitaph will be "the Game of "what ifs".... Every year the NHL game shows so much promise, but then *clangs the post on an empty net*, by its stripping back of "handy" options that once existed in earlier versions. eg... * The ability to edit Players attributes while actualy in Season/Franchise Mode! * Player Portraits missing on Players (yes I know about the waiver, but some of these players have been in the NHL 2 Seasons now) * Player Likenesss (or lack of)---and the inability to correct Players appearences, weights, heights etc (which was once a function years ago) * Roster Updates that override your Custom Rosters (so self defeating that adding in a new/missing player "play by play"audio in Roster , rather than patch!) * TV style presentation---simply rewind to NHL14 to see "what was once was was better than what whence forth lol) I agree regarding the new Female commentary : Carrlyn Bathe --as much as some people dislike it, I do feel it brings something new to what had became rather stale commentary (although i would like a little more variety in her analysis)----and i love the "on ice" overlays....this is something that I hope is built on next year. I realise that the developers are not focusing on my Age Group /Demographic, but surely the things we are seeking are not massive--EA could esily implement all these things, while still focusing on thier HUT Cash. A good post--I enjoyed that |

I am 52 not exactly in their crosshairs either again forever hopeful. I always take a peek at the forums seeing how many are logged on and Hockey peak season is way behind other sports and I think that is why we don’t get more of what we do get. It’s all about the money that is generated it does make sense but still stinks. |
Re: NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
I think Mike Emrick and Eddie Olczyk were great choices back in the day (and still would be), but what makes 'Doc' great is his emotion and associated perfect timing. Unfortunately, mimicking emotion from announcers in a game seems to be tough problem that no studio has solved to my knowledge.

Re: NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
I’d like to have pat foley and Eddie olczyk as announcers. I’m also 53 year old fart who as you can tell is a Blackhawks fan.

Re: NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
Did 2k not have Bob Cole and Harry Neal back in the day?
Those two were easily the best of them all |
Re: NHL SERIES ANNOUNCERS?
Never played the 2K series but I would really like Bob Cole and Harry Neal but I think they have retired possibly
