"Sound the Gjallarhorn!" - A Minnesota Vikings Franchise

The Minnesota Vikings. The prototypical “This is the year!” team, only to be let down quickly at the beginning of the season. Years of mediocrity, bookended with the occasional overachieving year has plagued the franchise since it left the Golden Era of their vaunted defense, The Purple People Eaters.

Those Purple People Eaters led the Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances, but they never captured the elusive Lombardi Trophy. In each of their four appearances, the offense sputtered, and the fan base was left disappointed. During those “Golden Years”, the Vikings won their division 11 times in 13 years. Defensive tackle Alan Page was the first defensive player to win the NFL MVP, with New York Giants Legend Lawrence Taylor being the only other defensive player to win it

Those Purple People Eaters got older, and after their fourth Super Bowl loss, it took the team over a decade to have another double digit win season, and they would never make it to another Super Bowl. Between Tommy Kramer and Wade Wilson, the franchise would have back-to-back double win seasons in the late 1980s; however, they would soon find their way back to mediocrity.

“The Trade” would load the Dallas Cowboys with talent. Enough talent to lead them to three Super Bowl victories in the 1990s. The Vikings would sit there wondering, what if?

Then, the Vikings would strike gold in the late ‘90s. Randy Moss would fall into their lap, and along with Randall Cunningham, Cris Carter, and Robert Smith, the franchise would put up a then-record 556 points. But, alas, that offense would not be enough. Another heart break, a missed field goal away from the Super Bowl. The Vikings would put together a couple of solid squads, but a divorce with Moss and the promising Daunte Culpepper blowing out his knee, the team would find themselves flirting with the cellar of the NFC North.

The Vikings would have another star fall into their laps. The running back out of Oklahoma. Concerns for injuries caused Adrian Peterson to fall, and the Vikings decided to pair him with Chester Taylor. Unfortunately, it was turning into a passing league. Years of trying to replace Moss, the Vikings felt they struck gold with Percy Harvin, but would that be enough?

And then, it happened. Brett Favre. The Iron Man. After a year in New York, he made his way to Minnesota and crushed the Packers’ hearts. The Vikings would make it to the NFC Championship to face the New Orleans Saints. One game away. Just run, Brett. Just run. But in true Favre and Vikings’ fashion, a forced pass across the body gave the Saints the game, and the team would miss out on the big game one more time.

Favre would go down in his second season with the Vikings, which turned out to be his final season. The franchise would go through ten starters after Favre, with a failed attempt at revitalizing Donovan McNabb’s career, reaching for a cornerstone in Christian Ponder, and giving up on Case Keenun after leading the team to an NFC Championship in which they were dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Vikings have settled on their starter.

The Vikings brought in Kirk Cousins. They gave him the keys to the city. After missing the playoffs in year one, he lead the team to an upset victory of the Saints in year two. Another down year in 2021 has the Vikings' brass teetering on his future.

Will Coach Mike Zimmer and Cousins lead the team to their first Super Bowl victory, or will the fan base be left disappointed again?

          Shameless Plug For Amazing Project.

SimWorld has been putting out projects for a long time working on various NBA 2k and WWE 2k projects, but never has Simworld had a project bigger than this!

We currently have an interactive basketball project that we have been working on for over a year and a half, and we have finally been able to launch our beta season as of January. A brief synopsis of our goals…

          The Short Term Goal:
During our beta season we are strictly running with 32 head coaches at the high school level. This is to give the SimWorld team the ability to ensure that everything from a journalistic standpoint to a technical standpoint is running properly. We want the following seasons to run as smoothly as possible, and we cannot do that without the beta coaches. We are currently operating through Discord with Google as an aid; however, a SimWorld app is in the works once we can ensure a seamless integration.

          The Long Term Goal:
Once running at full force, SimWorld will be running simultaneous NBA, college, and high school leagues that will be continuous and will include general managers, head coaches, and players.

          Beyond:
SimWorld will not just be an interactive basketball experience. As we grow, other sports including but not limited to wrestling and football will also be introduced. Our goal is to create an unscripted, organic, totally immersive, interactive sports world!

Everything you know and expect from a SimWorld project in regard to detail, realism and long-term function… just bigger and more in-depth. This is not your typical ‘sim league’, this is a continuous, hands-free simulation experience! #SeeTheGameBeTheGame

SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS! RAMS BEAT BENGALS 28-24!
The Los Angeles Rams capped their dream season with the Lombardi Trophy. Behind quarterback Matthew Stafford's 240 passing yards and two touchdowns to star receiver Cooper Kupp, the Rams broke their 22-year drought between Championships.

Stafford, arguably the best quarterback without a Super Bowl heading into the season, landed in the perfect situation for himself. After years in purgatory with the Detroit Lions, he finally took the big step in year one of being a starter for the Rams.

Can the Rams keep their star studded team together, with star Odell Beckham Jr. and Von Miller heading to free agency? Can they repeat for the 2022-23 season? Will the Cincinnati Bengals continue to grow behind their three heated monster of Joe Burrow, Joe Mixon, and Jamar Chase? Will they draft a wide receiver with the first name of Joe so Joe can toss to Joe, and Joe fakes the run and passes to Joe?

Stay tuned to find out on next week's episode of Dragon Ba... wait.

Stay tuned for the off-season and all the storyline to follow!

Re: “Sound the Gjallarhorn!” - A Minnesota Vikings Franchise

The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Mike Zimmer after missing the playoffs for the fifth time in eight years. He was on a short leash after missing the playoffs a year ago, and internal pressure alongside reports of disfunction between the coaching staff led to this outcome.

The Vikings will hold internal and outside interviews for their head coaching vacancy. The team has not made a decision on General Manager Rick Spielman.

VIKINGS MEET WITH COUSINS TO DISCUSS CONTRACT
The Minnesota Vikings are holding ongoing talks with starting quarterback Kirk Cousins in regards to his current contract. Reports are that the Vikings have requested that he restructure his contract so the team can fill some holes on defense, as well as possibly get him another weapon. Rumors are Cousins has refused any type of restructuring to his current deal and will only accept an extension at his current rate of $45 million per year.

Re: “Sound the Gjallarhorn!” - A Minnesota Vikings Franchise

Storyline a plenty around the league this off-season that sees plenty of alleged disgruntled or unwanted high profile quarterbacks potentiality on the move. The San Francisco 49ers drafted their future at quarterback last year in Trey Lance, and though not ready, the team appears ready to throw him to the wolves which leaves Jimmy G without a home. Since the destruction of the Legion of Boom, Russell Wilson has struggled to consistently get the Seattle Seahawks deep into the playoffs. Baker Mayfield has suffered from.. something.

Where will these quarterbacks, along with Aaron Rodgers, Jameis Winston, and others, call home next season?

Re: “Sound the Gjallarhorn!” - A Minnesota Vikings Franchise

With rumors of friction between the Minnesota Vikings and Kirk Cousins leaking out, quarterback needy teams have allegedly began reaching out to the team to get feelers. A source close to the team said that they highly covet Cousins and believes the team wants a first round pick in return. While many scoff at the notion of a first round pick being given up for him, desperation does a lot to the human mind.

The source has stated that the Steelers, with whom quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retired this off-season, the Saints, unsure of how much it will cost to keep Jameis Winston, and the Texans, who are looking to move disgruntled star Deshaun Watson, have all inquired. There is also speculation that the Vikings would consider swapping quarterbacks with other teams. One relationship to look out for is Kevin Stefanski's relationship with Cousins.

The Minnesota Vikings made their mind on their General Manager position. Former GM Rick Spielman, well respected within the organization, has accepted a move to an advisory role as the team decides on Cleveland Browns' Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their new GM. Adofo-Mensah is very analytical and is believed to be one of the hot, up-and-coming front office people in the league.

With the hire, let the Kirk Cousins-for-Baker Mayfield rumors begin.

VIKINGS HIRE CHIEFS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR BIENIEMY AS NEW HEAD COACH
The Minnesota Vikings have named Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy as their new Head Coach. Bieniemy has spent the last four years as the Chiefs offensive coordinator (eight years total), helping develop young Patrick Mahomes into a top five quarterback in the league.

Bieniemy is expected to promote Vikings Wide Receivers Coach Keenan McCardell to Offensive Coordinator due to his superb work with the Vikings receivers. He is also rumored to have poached back former Vikings Defensive Line Coach Andre Patterson as his Defensive Coordinator. Patterson just recently signed with the New York Giants after former Head Coach Mike Zimmer was fired.

The Minnesota Vikings have shipped quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end Ty Conklin, and a 2022 fourth round pick to the New Orleans Saints for a 2022 first round pick, 2022 second round pick, and defensive tackle David Onyemata.

The Saints paid a premium as the quarterback market was slim this year as the top names, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Deshaun Watson, have all stayed home.

The Vikings are adamant that they are not rebuilding.

The Minnesota Vikings have made free agent tight end Mike Gesicki the highest paid tight end, tied with San Francisco 49ers tight end Greg Kittle, with a four year, $60 million contract.

The team also came to terms with defensive end Everson Griffen (one year contract) and linebacker Anthony Barr (two year contract).

Also, after time away from the team, cornerback Xavier Rhodes (two years) made the decision to sign with the Vikings after a sour ending years ago.
