Re: Player Ratings
I am creating a roster from the year the Texans came in the league til now (so 2002-current). I have been using stats like Approximate Value per game, which is dividing AV by either Games Played or Games Started, you can run a regression, i do from 65-99 OVR's, only 1 99 allowed at each position unless there is a legit tie (like say, Brady & Manning at QB).
You can use Football-Reference for player lists and basically use any stat.
Another idea I have done is to use an Excel sheet to rank players at their positions by each important stat. All done by game, so 1 point for 1st in Comp %, etc, the player with the fewest amount of points would be #1 and you could make the ratings that way as well.
Certainly fun to play around with different options. -

I've been working on a roster as well starting 1994 season. I use football-reference to figure out who is SSX, SS,S, N. My thing is on player archotype on how figuring that out. There mechanics.
