Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
With regards to Clint's answer regarding whether or not they will need certain aspects of gameplay, my question to him would be "How many gamers from the Sim/Franchise community did they give early codes to as opposed to the Comp community?
They are going to listen to the comp crowd simply because that community has the loudest voice. I'm not confident that the Madden 23 I've been playing for the last week will be the same Madden they release in August...and that will be a shame.
Just my opinion, but this interview is likened to a 7 inning slow pitch softball game.
"Anything is possible." - Clint
When I used to tell a female that I needed space, they would ask me if there was a chance we would get back together. My answer would be the same as Clint's. I knew full well there was no chance."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up" -

The squeaky wheel get's the grease most times.
I'm sure that is why Clint referenced to use your voices in
the forums.
I heard Hollywood and Schmitty tell Clint, please don't water it down.Comment

I pray they don't. I didn't get a chance to play the Beta for 21 or 22. I am thoroughly enjoying the gameplay where it is now. Tweak but please don't need it water down."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
The questions that were being asked were great questions. The answers not so much and I blame that on the follow up to Clint’s responses were pretty weak.
The question on tuning is what they should of really dove into a bit deeper. There’s 3 basic crowds in Madden and it sounds like the tuning process is just skewed to whatever the majority requests regardless of where it comes from. At least that’s what I was hearing.
Thumbs up to Smitty for sneaking in the question on a wear and tear system. Hollywood also had a poorly articulated but great question on the trenches that really didn’t get an answer.
Hearing Sim and Smitty talk so fondly of the game makes me wish I would’ve tried harder on getting a beta code. My expectations were extremely low for Madden this year.Comment

The point is not to back the Dev into an corner & make him uncomfortable, esp since it was this same type of approach that made them resend back to the back dealing with interaction with the community. The questions that were being asked were great questions. A lot of folk forget the Dev’s don’t have to interact with the community.
This corner them ideology only comes from folk/avenues whom have never lead to anything tangle the Dev’s can use.
Like Clint stated about 6yrs ago, even whe the Dev team tries to be transparent and explain what’s really going on, many just don’t want to except them being truthful.
- even Rex took heat from gamers for being up front in interviews as best as he could.
There’s a lot of mending that has to be done because of how knuckleheads have approached the Dev’s in the past and this was a good initial interview and Q/A that hopefully leads to many more with Hollywood and others.Last edited by khaliib; 06-13-2022, 09:33 PM.Comment

Agreed there is definitely a balance that should be taken when doing an interview. If my post came off as chasing Clint with a pitchfork that certainly isn’t what I meant. The point is not to back the Dev into an corner & make him uncomfortable, esp since it was this same type of approach that made them resend back to the back dealing with interaction with the community.

You good.
I was in the same boat of get him to go deeper about the Gameplay Sliders, but I also understand that that’s not an area he can speak to.
But he did say if we want to see a certain impact happen from the Sliders to let them know.Comment

Guy (Blessed Lyfe) tells clint the mobile QB's aren't running enough or sensing pressure.
The response is we still need to fine tune it for the AI.
You've had Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes on the cover your game in recent years and your still struggling to program AI mobile QB's to simulate their real life counterparts.
I'm just baffled as to why year after year this is still an issue with the way NFL is played today. That type of stuff should already be present regardless if it's a beta or not that's why you have those QB Traits in the game right.

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
Pleasantly surprised that we got this interview this year, I had assumed the toxicity of the community had made Premade YouTube videos, Gridiron Notes and major publication interviews the only sources of long form communication going forward.
He's not going say of course, "We're going to abandon it", but I still like the fact that it was mentioned again in public that Franchise is the most played mode. They could easily try and downplay that fact.
In terms of match coverage checks, the dev team's allowance of do anything hot routing is the gift that keeps on giving in terms of hurting real football.
It's crazy to hear to hear Clint still say that All-Pro is most like the NFL, I'll admit that I haven't even tried All-Pro in three years, because my perception is that the CPU is too dumb on that level.
I've noticed that in Madden Voice this year, that even some posts with limited upvotes are getting passed on to the dev team. I had one passed on even though my suggestion only had like one upvote besides mine. The other stuff that has been sent on to the team have pretty much all been things that I agree with so that is good.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
On one hand, it is not the Dev's fault that the game has an exclusive license. But on the other hand, we need the Dev's to give us open answers, and we need to exert pressure to get the game we want. The point is not to back the Dev into an corner & make him uncomfortable, esp since it was this same type of approach that made them resend back to the back dealing with interaction with the community.

Nevertheless, as the Dev's are employees doing their best, they are NOT the ones that the vitriol should be directed to, assuming you were angry over there being no competition for NFL games. That would be the suits, not the hard working developers. Making games is tremendously difficult. They have enough on their plates.https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2049813056Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

That's my main problem with it. The player interactions certainly feel better, but that's about it.Pleasantly surprised that we got this interview this year, I had assumed the toxicity of the community had made Premade YouTube videos, Gridiron Notes and major publication interviews the only sources of long form communication going forward.

The closest thing to a solution is All Madden with slider adjustments.https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2049813056Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
So last summer, a few weeks before launch, Clint promised the playbook blog and he promised a few other things that never made it into the game. I think he is great for the game. I think he's a great dev. But these guys only have as much power as the people above them allow. I'm not gonna get my hopes high or low on stuff he is saying because ultimately this stuff is really not his decision. He may not want the pass rush to get nerfed before launch... but we all know it will because it happens every year between beta and launch. The comp crowd wants cheese plays and the devs will continue to allow them to have cheese plays. They have been saying the same thing since M16 that they're doing a deep dive on the cheese and eliminating all of it and they really don't because that alienates the comp casuals who are buying packs. I think Clint is great, but he can only do what he is allowed to do.Comment

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
So then what's the point of Simulation, Competitive, and Arcade? If the Comp crowd want more of a cheesy experience and EA wants to give it to them, then they should be able to get that by choosing Competitive. The way the game plays now is how it should play under Simulation; and Arcade should be over the top play.So last summer, a few weeks before launch, Clint promised the playbook blog and he promised a few other things that never made it into the game. As it stands now, when the tune the game to the Competitive crowds liking, the Sim crowd are the ones who take the hit and there is no purpose for choosing."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: Clint Interview with Hollywood Sports, Schmitty, and Simftballcritic
This isn’t meant to be a “doom and gloom” comment. But rather just a realistic one.
The real paycheck from madden doesn’t come from initial sales. It’s from the DLC purchases throughout the year. The income from YouTubers and 15 year olds with their moms credit card doing MUT openings all year and the money the competitive crowd brings in FAR outweighs the money from franchise/sim guys making the one time purchase at launch.
As much as I hate to say this, I almost wish there was a way to monetize aspects of franchise mode so we could at least be able to make a bigger blip on the suits radar. But even then, that probably wouldn’t get us anywhere either.
At the end of the day, no matter how much the devs actually care, the power and decisions lies with the suits higher up. And they only look at the earnings reports and spreadsheets showing what results in more income.
And that will NEVER be franchise mode or simulation gameplay.
The last two years were maddens worst for getting absolutely obliterated on social media but it still hasn’t resulted in a huge mentality shift because the money is coming in regardless.
Anyways, that’s just my $0.02. Y’all have a good one.Comment
