That's just not true. 2K started off as Sega Sports, far from an independent.

He might mean Visual Concepts, but even then they were partnered with EA in the early 1990's. I don't believe they were a fully independent (meaning developing and publishing their own titles) studio.

This is gonna do as well as the other Maximum Football game I bet. They just aren't doing anything new. It's all discount Madden gameplay. Looks so rough.

It's American football. What can they really do from a gameplay perspective to innovate or change up things?

They'll have to put their own spin on things ("real - time" tackling for example) but it's still going to be American football.

Things like what Backbacker did were perfect. Put the camera behind the QB, have better lighting, etc. Or go a Blitz style game and make it more arcarde. Try something new. Don't just clone Madden. Because it's always going to fail otherwise because the gameplay won't even come close to comparing. Give users a different way to play. Otherwise they'll just do what all these other low budget football games do: have crap gameplay that doesn't even compare to Madden 20 years ago.

I don't see them cloning Madden at all. As a matter of fact, it can be argued that their Franchise/College Dynasty Mode is more deeper than Madden right now. Not only that, but the vision that the developer has is different from Madden already because their focus is more for the offline user that's into Franchise and Dynasty Modes whereas EA is catering more towards Ultimate Team and Online Modes.

The gameplay is the discussion. It's same camera angle. Same mechanics. Same everything. But looks like 25 years ago Madden. None of those other features matter if the core gameplay is discount Madden. It's why all these small studio football games never go anywhere. The amount of users that want all that deep stuff while not caring that the gameplay is poor is an insanely small amount. Focus on the gameplay and creating a unique experience there and then expand the modes and get deeper. But if the gameplay keeps looking like 25 years ago Madden, nobody is gonna seriously buy this except the small percentage that will praise any football game not made by Madden.

Your logic is confusing to me when you say they should do what Backbreaker did years ago, but then also go on to talk about how these smaller football games continue to go nowhere. Where did Backbreaker end up going???

Also, this game is aimed to just fill a small niche out there. It isn't trying to compete with Madden or probably even Axis or the other indie games out there too much. It has its own approach to what is realistic gameplay and is doing something the others aren't with its career modes.

That is their goal, so if they can get that small crowd to buy the game and be happy, it will have been a success. I think you're trying to turn this game into something it isn't aiming to be nor has a realistic chance of being, and that's a game that somewhat competes with Madden and brings in a healthy crowd. That simply isn't what their aim appears to be.

Looks like they're working to fix issues from the past games. The one I got 2 years ago was nearly unplayable because the passing game and reaction times were horrible.

Definitely going to be getting this when it comes out. I refuse to continue buying re-packaged Madden trash.

It gives me NCAA 12 vibes, and that's appreciated. I'll get this just to be able to do the CFL.

No word on this game. Nothing, seems to be dead. Odd how silent they have
been. Maybe EA paid them off.. Or hired them..lol
