    MLB.tv

Has anyone else used this before? Im thinking of getting it this season and was wondering if anyone had some feedback on it. Or if you know of any alternatives to watching games online?

Funny I saw this post. I just got off the phone with my cable provider (POS Charter) and for the second straight year it seems they'll either not be providing the MLB Extra Innings package, or it'll be coming late.

Last year I got the $80 package off the net and thought it was great. You can view the games whenever you want since they are archived, so if you're tied up at work/school you can still watch the game in it's entierty, or watch a trimmed down version once they're done editing it. Nice options.

It'll probably be what I got with this year. Maybe think about getting an S-Video cable and running it to my tv since it's not too far.

Seeing as though we are both in NC, and not too far from one another, the Braves (understandably) and the Reds (why?) are blacked out.

        Forgot about the Nats.

I'm not sure about the Orioles though. I remember getting RS games vs. the Orioles all the time last year.

Hopefully they didn't change it this year, because it'll be a huge wrench in my plans to purchase it again. That'd be about 20 games or so that would be blacked out.

Were the Reds blacked out last year? I live just up the road from you in Johnson City. I bought the MLB Extra Innings Pkg and had to watch the Reds on WGN. That pissed me off! If the Reds are blacked out in this area I am dropping the pkg.

I used this two years ago and the frame rate at times was awful.

Yeah it was blacked out last year. I wanted to see their games early on vs. the Mets for some reason last year, and couldn't. I was also interested in watching Griffey.

I forget what they told me to do. Clear out your temp int files or cache but it usually cleared it up.

I had one week that was hell though for some reason. But the rest was smooth sailing.

                  Re: MLB.tv

I've had it the the past two years and just watched the end of the Cards/Phils game. To my surprise they've updated the media player and (IMO) it looked much clearer.

Anyway, I don't have digital cable and don't have statelite, so this is the next best thing. And while the picture is not as good as digital tv or sat, it's still pretty good and the only way I can keep up with my team.

Plus, with mlb.tv you get ALL the games. Not just 60 a week, like with the mlb package on tv. (correction: you don't get in market games that are on tv or nationally televised games on espn or fox)

Jackdog...they usually have the local team blacked out...as I just found out yesterday.
Called and ordered MLB Extra Innings...for $179.00!...went to watch the Met opener ...and it was blacked out. Immediatly got on the phone with a supervisor and cancelled Extra Innings.
I then order MLB.tv for $79.00...my PC is hooked up to a nice size monitor(36") so it was like I did not skip a beat and saved $100.00 bucks!
The only thing is the picture quality....it's good but not great on some games and it's not HD. No biggie though.

Is there a way to enlarge the picture that I'm missing? OTherwise the size of your screen aint gonna matter much.

Double click on the viewing screen to maximize the pic, then double click again to get back to the small window.

I have mlb.tv for the second year in a row and I love it. Yes they black out Reds games, but I get FSN ohio, which has like 145 Reds games this year so it's all good. The framerates are usually fine, but you can't have too many other windows open otherwise that will hurt it. Plus, you need cable internet or ethernet, otherwise it probably won't work as well.

Any nationally televised game won't be viewable, and locally televised games aren't either, for obvious reasons. But as far as Orioles and Nats, I watched them all last year, and so far have yet to be blacked out this year. The mlb.tv package really depends on where your billing address is, for those of you who weren't sure how it worked.

I signed up for MLB tv again, but I can't find the setting to change it to Realplayer. I always used that media player last year because the picture was alot bettert that way.

Are they still offering RP support?
