    2007 MLB Draft

Unlike the other leagues, the MLB draft doesn't go on talent alone. Bonus demands often cause players to slip in the draft.

With that said, here's my mock draft:

    1) Devil Rays: David Price
    2) Royals: Rick Porcello
    3) Cubs: Matt Wieters
    4) Pirates: Josh Vitters
    5) Orioles: Mike Moustakas
    6) Nationals: Ross Detwiler
    7) Brewers: Jarrod Parker
    8) Rockies: Jason Heyward
    9) Diamondbacks: Beau Mills
    10) Giants: Phillippe Aumont
    11) Mariners: Matt Dominguez
    12) Marlins: Blake Beavan
    13) Indians: Casey Weathers
    14) Braves: Josh Smoker
    15) Reds: Michael Main
    16) Blue Jays: Devin Mesoraco
    17) Rangers: Julio Borbon
    18) Cardinals: Madison Bumgarner
    19) Phillies: Matt Harvey
    20) Dodgers: Daniel Moskos
    21) Blue Jays: Pete Kozma
    22) Giants: Matt LaPorta
    23) Padres: Nick Schmidt
    24) Rangers:Kevin Ahrens
    25) White Sox: J.P. Arencibia
    26) Athletics: Nick Noonan
    27) Tigers: Todd Frazier
    28) Twins: Jake Arrieta
    29) Giants: James Simmons
    30) Yankees: Andrew Brackman

Outside of Price going number 1, everything is up in the air. This is a deep draft for HS pitchers and short on College bats.

The quickest guy to reach the majors should be Casey Weathers. I think there's an outside chance you might actually see him in the majors this season.

For the Jays, I think Mesoraco would be a good pick at 16. He's a HS Catcher. He had TJ surgery before but he's fully recovered now. I've seen him throw and he has a cannon for an arm. He can also hit for power. Kozma is a HS SS and he doesn't project to have a lot of upside. He has good speed and a little bit pop but he's only average in the field.

Cant wait for the draft. Doesnt appeal much to the "now" crowd, but its fun watching your teams guys move up, and you get to see some huge suprises from the bottom of the draft sometimes. I always like to see who I get to see when other Midwest League teams come to Ft. Wayne. Got to see Upton last year, and I saw Bailey and Bruce in the last couple of years.

If Wieters falls to us at 5 and we don't take him, I'm a be pissed. I have a feeling Angelos will take Moustakas just because he's Greek. Now that I think about it, the other Greek that we drafted isn't so bad.

I've heard a lot of good things about him. Bumgarner, Porcello and Harvey are all UNC commits, but it's really unlikely any will ever play a college game unfortunately.

I've seen Price from Vanderbilt (#1 on this list) pitch a few times this year, he's nasty. Should be an ace quality pitcher within a few years.

I don't know a majority of the players on this list. I'm still going to watch to see who the Yankees get though.
            NBA: New York Knicks
            NCAA: Duke
            MLB: New York Yankees
            NFL: New York Jets

That's who I had pinpointed early, but he seems to be sliding a bit, I've seen some mocks project him in the mid/late 20s. And I read somewhere that he's represented by Boras, if so that would probably make the Braves wary.

...but I really don't know much about this draft class, just the little I've read. Interested to see how it unfolds, though.

Bumgarner's a huge lefty that throws in the upper 90's at times... AND has plenty of pop at the plate.

His school, South Caldwell, just won the State Championship in NC.

Smoker's velocity was down to mid-high 80's in his last start in May. I don't believe Scott Boras is his agent.

                    Re: 2007 MLB Draft

There has been rumors that Rick Porcello will drop into the late to mid 1st round due to signability.

i highly doubt the yankees draft brackman because he's been having major elbow problems and i still think he would be available at the #96 pick that the Yankees have and probably after that too

Is Brackman the kid who used to play basketball at NC State?

The MLB Draft is the dumbest thing ever. Seriously, they made a huge fuss about high school guys trying to go pro in the NBA, but what about all these kids who go pro for baseball??? So many go pro! They need to institute some rules to where these kids don't get picked after round 5 or something. Cuz there are 50 rounds
