Never been a fan. But then i have not really heard him much since he left the Cubs back in the late 90's.

Agree with the Tim McCarver part. He is nearly unbearable to listen to (for me)

but I actually enjoy listening to Chip Carey. I think he is quite good.

You forget Ernie Johnson. His father, Ernie Johnson Sr. was the long time TV/Radio voice of the Braves. In fact the younger Johnson even worked with his old man from '92-'96 on the radio!

The elder Johnson had a folksiness to him but he called the game pretty well and was never overbearing or showed too much bias like his son.


It's sad how the sons of great broadcasters have no chops. At least in Buck's case he's a better football guy then his father was.
