Re: Ex-Yank Jim Leyritz in trouble

I'm not trying to defend a DUI AT ALL but if a guy (I'm not really talking about this case) only had about 2 or 3 beers I might would feel a little bit bad for him, but if he was just sloppy drunk then no way I would. I guess slight buzz driving is considered a DUI but I think people who drive without sleep are just as much of a threat on the roads.

My cousin bought his World Series ring from him a couple of years ago cause he was hooked on drugs and alcohol and needed the money.

Completely agree here, if he had only had one beer the headlines would be the same as if he'd had 20, either way when you drink and drive you are automatically at fault in an accident, you could be hit head on in your own lane and still be held repsonsible. Not to sound insensitive but why do they never mention if the person who died was drinking.

Re: Ex-Yank Jim Leyritz in trouble

From the husband of the woman Leyritz killed:

Quote:
"I have a 5-year-old who cried himself to sleep last night," distraught dad Jordan Veitch, 29, said of his son, Julian. "He has a lot of questions."
"He asked me why Mommy wasn't going to come home; why Mommy was in the grass and who's going to take care of him," the unshaven and teary-eyed father said yesterday on the doorstep of his suburban Fort Lauderdale home. "She was a good mother and a great wife."

"I'm upset that I lost my wife and he's out of jail in nine hours," said Jordan Veitch, flanked by his lawyer and the father of his wife's older daughter. "I have to explain to my son why he doesn't have a mother."
Absolutely horrible. Way to go Jim.

Guy is a douche. God I hate drunk driving stories. I wish they'd just install those Breathalyzer that keep a car from starting in all cars.
