great review John! You hit on all the little nagging things that they never chose to fix, yet you pointed out all the things that ASB does well. I agreed with 100% that was said in this review. It's too bad Acclaim just concentrates on adding more and more extras to the game instead if refining and improving the core gameplay.

Re: Our All-Star Baseball 2004 Review

Very good review. In my mind the graphics are better than HH, but not enough to overcome the gameplay issues. I have seen a whole seasons worth of over-the-shoulder catches too in the several games I have played. Very repetitive.

Things that I was hoping to see were either not as great as I had thought, or were negated by something else done poorly. For instance, I was excited about the ball collision idea on homeruns, but they were really pretty limited. Didnt see them bouncing off of signs or facades or anything like that.

The players faces were fairly impressive, but then they have to walk like my 3 year old son when he has a load in his diapers. Oh, well. Maybe WSB will combine the best of both worlds.

Right on with the review -- what's funny is if you left off a few of the new features, your review could be applied the last year's model.

I agree. Where's more mention of the expansion team option, downloadable Xbox Live rosters, the excellent (and improved IMO) pitcher vs. batter 'feel', etc.... ?!?!??

to be fair there was a lot of stuff I had to leave out. I just didn't want the review to drag on and I think neither did our readers. I tried to point out the highlites and the lowlites of the game.

Of course becaues it's ASB there's just too much to talk about.

I think it was a thread jrod started called "So you think only HH has bugs -- ASB Bug", that really made me not want jrod to do a review on ASB. And then he did. Maybe you shouldnt throw your discontent around for a game prior to reviewing it jrod. Makes the review seem...well....cheap.
