Rickey should go in unanimously and I'd also vote Blyleven and Raines in. Rice will most likely make it in also although I don't really think he deserves it. At least we won't have to hear the same arguments each offseason anymore though.

Those types of things creep into your mind.
I think he would have had over 500 HR's and that usaully gets you in.

Actually if you take away his "juiced" HR numbers he'd probably only barely break the 500 HR mark. What also hurts McGwire is aside from the HRs his other offensive numbers aren't anything to write home about.

Andre Dawson should be in, IMO.

Similar career OPS+, superior defensive value, vastly superior value on the bases. Raines over Rice shouldn't even be a question, but unfortunately he wasn't "feared."

Re: HoF ballot released...

For me, Rickey Henderson is the only one on this list who deserves it. Next best case is Raines. Rice/Morris/Blyleven don't belong IMO.

I think Mattingly would have been a cinch if he hadn't run into injuries...his numbers in his prime were amazing, but he didn't do it long enough.

Re: HoF ballot released...

Can anyone else not wait to hear Rickey's HOF speech? What % of it will be in the the third person? 85%

It's kind of funny that he never actually retired from the game. It's just nobody needed him anymore...kind of sad that he didn't get the hint...oh well I bet he's playing in some semi pro team as we speak hoping the Padres or A's will pick him up for one more go.

Definitely one of the most exciting players during his time. Nothing better then him falling behind 0-2 to lead off a game and then work a 12-pitch walk and then steal second and then third on the next few pitches and then score on fly ball.
