Damon, as much as it pains me to say this, should be a lock for the HOF. Given 3-4 more productive years, he should retire with a statline that reads about: .285-.290/.355-.360/.440 - with a career OPS of about .800 as primarily a leadoff hitter, with stats like: 3,000 hits, 265 homeruns, 1250 rbi, and 400 sb. He was your prototypical leadoff hitter, but had quite a bit of pop compared to most others. Played an extremely solid CF, stole bases very well, laid down bunts with the best of them, and just generally did everything you could ask of a player.

I despise him because of his switch to the Yankees, but the man is an amazing ballplayer.

Also... As far as David Ortiz goes, no way in hell he will ever deserve to be in the HOF. Sox HOF, obviously. But his dominance was far too short-lived. Now, I don't think he's done, but he will never be the threat he once was.

I think he'll make it, but "lock" is a bit of a stretch. Career 105 OPS+, no Gold Gloves, no Silver Sluggers, no top-10 MVP finishes.

Here's someone interesting who hasn't been brought up yet: Andruw Jones.

Unfortunately once he reaches that 3,000 hit mark he'll be a lock, regardless of his other numbers.

It'll be a sad day when he goes in and Raines is still on the outside looking in.

Raines' exclusion is egregious. Guy was an incredible player. First-ballot guy in my book.
