I have a feeling that statue might be the frequent target of vandalism.

I'm sure they are not honoring for his services as a Commish, but honoring him as owner that kept baseball in Milwaukee, a small market.

That's exactly the case.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Milwaukee fans that grew up during the time he took over that franchise are upset over this move.

Anyone that thinks of him as the commish will likely be angry, but he means more than that to the city of Milwaukee.

That is absolutely the reason for the statue, but in my opinion, an over-sized statue seems like the wrong to acknowledge his contributions to baseball in Milwaukee. He doesn't really have the look that translates well to seven-foot tall statues. Maybe a special section of seating or a pavilion named after him would have been a better choice, or even just a more under-stated plaque.

The current owner is the one who is doing the dedicating. If there was an under-stated plaque, it would pale in comparison to Yount's and Aaron's.

It's not a contest of who's statue is prettier, Yount, Aaron or Selig. He kept the Brewers afloat for 2 decades in a small market. He means more to Milwaukee than people outside the state of Wisconsin's opinion of him as a commissioner.
