Matt Holliday has indicated that he is willing to restructure his contract and take a pay cut in order to get Pujols re-signed.

The MLBPA has been a bit less hands on when it comes to contracts though. Just look at what happened with Cliff Lee. Back in the day when Donald Fehr was running the PA Lee would definitely be in Yankee pinstripes right now.

if he lengthens his contract or backloads it so that St.Louis has financial flexability for the next 2 or 3 years, I'm not sure the MLBPA will/can do anything.

personally I still think he signs with the cards. Like I have said before, for selfish reasons I hope he takes the cards to the cleaners; come on Albert don't let them low-ball you. But seriously, it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
