Tie Breaker question

Okay.... say 3 teams finish the top of a division with identical records. Let's go with fictional teams:

1. Hoofties 97 - 65
2. Nimrods 97 - 65
3. Jackwagons 97 - 65

In regards to the season series, the Hoofties beat the Nimrods, the Nimrods beat the Jackwagons, but the Hoofties and Jackwagons are tied! What's the tie breaker scenario?

Assuming none of the 3 teams are eligible for the WC, the Nimrods and Jackwagons would play a 1-game playoff on the day after the regular season. The winner would play the Hoofties in another 1-game playoff the next day for the division title.

Re: Tie Breaker question

I'd just like to say I'm a die hard Hoofties fan. I hope we face the Jackwagons in the tiebreaker game. Nimrods lineup definitely scares me and they wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for such a slow start due to injuries.

doesn' really matter
teh bomblebees will win it all, anyways

i don't know what teh tiebreaker rule is
but imo, since teh series standings look like this
1-hoofties 1-0-1
2-nimrods 1-1
3-jackwagons 0-1-1
teh hoofties should be division winner

...and just so you know they consider you their #1 Hooftie!!! lol

(your posting was hilarious)

I did look over that reference, but I couldn't find anything that exactly fits the above scenario. I'll have to keep interpreting I guess.

It's covered in Scenario 4. If none of the 3 teams has a winning record against each of the other 2, then it's winning percentage among the games played between the 3 teams.

For simplicity's sake, let's assume the season series is 18 games, and the Hoofties beat the Nimrods by the same margin that the Nimrods beat the Jackwagons.

Hoofties 12-6 record vs Nimrods
Hoofties 9-9 record vs Jackwagons
Nimrods 12-6 record vs Jackwagons

Cumulative record among the 3 teams:

Hoofties 21-15
Nimrods 18-18
Jackwagons 15-21

Therefore it's N vs J on Monday, winner plays H on Tuesday.
