Re: 2013 Hall of Fame Ballot Discussion

I have an anecdote about Kenny Lofton from the 1999 All-Star Game that's worthy of the Hall of Fame, but I'm afraid it might violate TOS.

Me too, please!

I have a great Kenny Lofton story as well, I will post mine here (it doesn't violate the TOS although religious beliefs do play a teeny, tiny part) tomorrow since I am too drunk right now and need to fact check with a friend of mine.

Larry Walker needs to get in:

.313, 383 HRs, 1311 RBI

5-time All-Star
7-time National League Gold Glove Award winner
National League MVP award winner (1997)
3-time Silver Slugger Award winner

I didn't realize Walker had a .313/.400/.565 career line over 8,000+ PA.

Very similar to Edgar Martinez.

Tom Cheek to be inducted into HOF(Ford C Frick winner). Took long enough. Should have been there years ago.

For those who might not know who he is....he was longtime Jays broadcaster, and provided one of the most famous calls in the history of baseball "Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

Heh. Here's Exhibit A for MLB taking this out of the BBWAA's hands. The highlights:

- Clemens and Bonds: never voting for them, ever. Unless they apologize! Because that will make things right!
- Sosa: "a skinny, marginal regular with no power" before becoming Superman (Actually, Sosa hit 33, 25, 36, 40, 36 HR in the seasons immediately preceding '98)
- Piazza: was a late-round draft pick who became a superstar. Guilty.
- Bagwell: had big biceps. Guilty.
- Biggio: was teammates with Clemens, Pettitte, Bagwell. Hit a lot of doubles once. Guilty.

I wonder what this guy thinks about Jeter's great season at age 38. Hey, wasn't he a teammate of Clemens, Pettitte, A-Rod, Giambi?? OMG!!! Did you know Cal Ripken was a teammate of Palmeiro and Brady Anderson?! (Whoa, so was Robbie Alomar!) How many known or suspected users did Rickey Henderson play with, I wonder?

That's more like Exhibit X, pretty soon we'll have to start doubling up on exhibit letters.
