Sounds like Zach Britton will be dealt shortly as well. Possibly within the next few days. Looks to be down to the Cubs, Astros, and Dodgers. Dodgers are probably out due to luxury tax complications.

Re: 2018 MLB Trade Deadline

I'm not sure Britton is the guy he was a couple years ago. If I am one of those teams, I'm waiting a good 7-10 more days to watch him pitch a bit more (assuming the O's ever have a lead to hold).

The O's aren't waiting that long. They are trading everyone before the deadline due to injury risks. Also, talks have ramped up due to other relievers being dealt already. Herrera, Hand, and Familia.

I'd rather some other team beat me to it. He hasn't looked right and it's a big gamble to risk a major prospect in exchange.

The O's want a similar return that the Nationals gave the Royals in the Herrera trade. Not exactly "top of the line" prospects.

Re: 2018 MLB Trade Deadline

I'd take the chance on Britton if the price was right, but there's definitely risk there...I've only seen his outing against the Braves, so there's a small sample size (and a particularly bad outing) but he was awful then.

Everything about Britton is a screaming caution flag. He's struggled with injuries. His FB velo is down 2 MPH, his GB rate is down 20%, his hard contact rate has doubled, his BB rate has increased by a lot 3 years in a row. I see a whole lot of risk and very little reward.

I did hear that his MPB on his fastball has increased back to pre-injury levels in the last 3 weeks, indicating that he is bouncing back finally from the injury.
