Just remember, 3 years ago these teams met in the playoffs.

(the highlights spared Davis making another error in the 1st, and didn't bother showing his horribly off line throw after this play)

Nick Senzel and Joey Votto hit back to back homeruns to lead off a game for the Reds for the first time in 18 years.

Definitely some bad blood between Cole Hamels and the Rockies. So Bryan Shaw hits him in the foot with a breaking ball. Smooth move, ace. Almost certainly hit him in the foot to back up Nolan Arenado's beef about getting hit too high on the torso.

I wonder what that is about? And why would you hit someone on purpose with a breaking ball?

He probably didn't think hitting the pitcher was worth getting tossed for. Shaw also didn't do it in a 0-0 count so it adds plausible deniability about his intentions.

But it seems pretty much like garden variety "I bean your best player" stuff that takes on a life from there. Hamels has always been like that, with Bryce Harper or whomever.

Re: 6/10 - 6/23 Game Discussion Thread

Good thing this Cubs-Rockies game is already in the 8th and good thing it's getaway day. These teams seem to be getting tired of one another rather quickly...Hamels hits Arenado on the shoulder early on. Arenado barks at him "too high." A little bit later, Bryan Shaw gets Cole Hamels on the foot. Next Rockies pitcher (some nobody, conveniently enough) plunks Anthony Rizzo deliberately because street justice wasn't quite enough with Hamels just getting a bruised foot/ankle. Next man up, Javier Baez clobbers the nobody's pitch to make it a 10-0 Cubs lead. I am wondering who the Cubs will hit in the bottom half of the 8th...too bad it's Kyle Ryan because he's a soft-tosser.

Re: 6/10 - 6/23 Game Discussion Thread

Jays will be using their 12th different starter of the season already lol.

20 is the modern day record set by 1967 Mets.

I wonder if Jays will actually break that mark, especially when you know guys will be traded soon.

They're going for the Mariners 2017 record too. 40 total pitchers used. Jays already at 24.

I'm not saying we should give away the ROTY in June but Riley has had a bigger impact for the Braves in his first month than Acuna did
