Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

I hope Ohtani goes into a Michael Lorenzen role next year, but with more ABs.

Lorenzen is fun to watch play and I have no doubt Ohtani would be significantly better at it.

And this Brad Weick guy is pretty good. Nice pickup by the Cubs FO

Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

Man Darvish was on one today. Unfortunately the 1st inning was too much and the Offense was non existent mainly because Sonny Gray is really good.

at this point I'd be surprised if the Brewers don't win this division even without Yelich their schedule is cake and Cubs and Cardinals will probably just feast on each other.

Bring me the runners start on 1st and 2nd during extra innings rule ASAP. There is 0 reason for 2 bad teams to be playing a meaningless 6 hour game in the middle of September.

Kinda just hoping the Nationals/Cubs maintain their spot. Don't want the Brewers in that slot. I think both the Nationals and Cubs (and Mets) pose the best threat to the Dodgers because of the pitching.

No Yelich and no real pitching for Milwaukee would mean the Dodgers skate again.

Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

I dont want to hear anyone talk about how the Brewers are making another crazy comeback for the division because of their schedule. 10 of their last 16 have been against the Stros, Cubs, and Cards, and theyre 13-3 in those 16. They beat the good teams to get in this position while both STL and CHI had an easier schedule, and now the Brewers have the advantage. Lets not forget that extra interleague rivalry series, St Louis played a measly KC, the Cubs played the mediocre White Sox, and the Brewers played the (currently 93-58) Twins...

Plus theres the fact the Brewers have had the worst schedule in all of baseball according to ESPN..

Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

For the Brewers to be in the thick of a pennant race with both SP and relievers hitting the wall before and after the AS break and injuries to Woody, Moose, Kestdaddy and of course Yelich is amazing. Jordan Lyles was terrible for the Pirates and Sterns went out and traded for him after the AS break and he's been a pleasant surprise.

Obviously, a Brewers/Dodgers matchup would favor the Dodgers, but it's been a fun September ride.

At this stage of the season, let the chips fall where they fall and good luck to the teams in the pennant race.

Interesting take:

At 82-69, the Brewers have secured a winning season for the sixth time in the last nine years.

They had six winning seasons in the 27 years years before that.

Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

I'm gone for 1 evening and I miss Biggio hitting for the cycle!

At least Jeff Frye is no longer the Jays most recent cycle.

If they get some pitching, imagine what they could do next year. The young offense for a full year combined with even half decent pitching could probably make them a .500 team. Not a bad goal for year 2 of a rebuild.

Re: 9/16 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

Cardinals will face Scherzer today to try to win the rubber match of the series. Big game for the Cardinals to try and maintain a 2 game lead before their 4 game weekend series in the friendly confines of Wrigley.

Adam Wainwright toeing the rubber for the Cardinals this afternoon.

EDIT: Forgot to add...go Reds and Padres!
