Re: 2019-2020 Hot Stove Thread

Agreed

Given the season and postseason he had, I think he would do himself a disservice not testing the market to see what contract teams are willing to offer, but I don’t think it’s going to be anywhere near what he’s hoping for.

Well see though. Teams have overpaid for pitchers far too many times before so....

Nationals declined Zimmerman’s option. Anyone else think he’ll retire because I’m expecting it.

Sounds like former Mets skipper Terry Collins is Beltran’s choice for bench coach.

I think this would be a wise move for the Mets to have an experienced bench coach to help Beltran as he gets going

Yes I see that he is Boras client. He might not see D.C. again. Except when visiting.

Re: 2019-2020 Hot Stove Thread

I could see the Nats bringing him back on a cheaper deal, but at this point in his career, he's basically a bench guy.

Strasburg will turn 32 next season, giving him more years will likely end badly.

Re: 2019-2020 Hot Stove Thread

Someone will give Strasburg stupid money.
Cole and Rendon to Yankees.
Tigers will suck again. (I hope they pick up Matt Adams. They need a good defensive 1B and he can still hit. He'll also be a good clubhouse presence - Miggy seemed 'off' this year and I wonder how much of a negative influence he's become. He almost seemed pissed off this past year).

I think it’s a smart move for Strasburg to opt out. He was getting $25M per season the next 4 years; Grienke, Price, etc. have gotten more than $30M the last few years and Cole will as well. Someone will give him that kind of money...
