Re: 8/2/21 - 8/15/21 Game Discussion Thread

It would be a lot easier for the Jays to make up ground if the Yankees and As weren't winning every game too.

3 games back of Boston at least. Could be 2 by the end of today.

Thankfully Jays won with a walk off home run...in the bottom of the 7th.

But before that, the umps had one of the worst calls of the season, and the worst video review I think I've ever seen.

https://twitter.com/timandfriends/st...032138753?s=19

Cant seem to find video right now, but basically, Verdugo hit the ball, ran to 1B, missed 1B, ran back after to touch it and the ump called him safe.

Jays challenge the play, only for them to call it safe anyways. The reason was that the 1B(Gurriel) didnt have his foot on the bag? He clearly did...

Somewhat surprising, this is the 4th ever doubleheader at Rogers Centre/Skydome.

I wonder what caused the other 3, since it obviously wasn't a rainout.

Catcher Reese McGuire saved the bullpen so badly. Runner on 1st and 2nd, 0 outs. He proceeds to throw out the runner at 2B by throwing the ball straight to 2B and catching the runner off guard as he was going back to the base. Runner from 1B ends up going to 2nd on the rundown.

2 batters later McGuire then proceeds to throw out the runner who tried stealing 3rd.

Jays were inches away from winning their 2nd walk off game of the day against the same reliever!

I hate extra innings. Jays are the 2nd worst team in baseball in extra innings. Dodgers are the main team not making their extras record look horrible.

What a wild game in Milwaukee. Giants tie it in the 9th, score three in the tenth and now Milwaukee scores three to tie it in the bottom of the tenth

Didn't notice it until someone pointed it out.

Jays first 2 pitchers in the 2nd game today were Ray Romano.

As in Robbie Ray/Jordan Romano.

Guess everybody loves them?

Only team worse than the 2021 Dodgers in extra innings in MLB history is the 1969 expansion Expos. Just completely inexplicable how bad they are.

Extra inning lamentations aside, it's absurd how stacked a healthy Dodgers lineup is.

Chris Taylor, top 15 in fWAR, was batting 7th last night. The 2019 NL MVP was batting 8th. AJ Pollock, a >.300 hitter this year, was on the bench.

What is it with the Yankees being Covid Central.

I guess Jays dont want to win this series.

Not like they're in a playoff push...
