We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
You guys know that Air Up There was the dude who did a 720 a few years back right.
Redick!
hands down the best AND 1 moment. But yea NBA players have to worry about injuris etc. so they may hold back some dunks. Still will be an interesting contest nonetheless. A good way for some guys to at least get there names out there. Everyone hope fo James White as well!!!!!!!!
I think this is a bad move on the NBA's part. We all know how big the ego is on the NBA stars. They already aren't getting in the dunk contest and when you throw in non pro's they aren't going to want to sign up to for it. They won't take that chance and the reward is far below the risk. 10K is nothing to the like's LeBron, Wade, Vince, and so on. All the NBA would be doing with this is making some guy who doesn't have the game to play in the NBA famous and they wouldn't be gaining anything.
On the note of the non pro's. Where is my boy T-Dubb?? I would put him over any of those guys and right up there with the air up there. Maybe even above of him. The things he does in the air combined with his height is just amazing.
Aside from Howard, what big stars have been in it? Amare and then I think you have to go back to Vince.
They better let James White into it.
That's part of the point. They don't want to do it anymore and with the NBA adding outside non pro people into it they definantly won't do it. LeBron was talking like he was going to recruit other stars to get in it with him but this move probably will cancel out LeBron and anybody else. It will probably be Joe Alexander and a couple of other no names that won't bring in any extra viewers.
That guy's list wasn't official. The official Top 4 hasn't been done yet. However, I bet Guy Dupiuy and Air Up There are in it. Guy (aka Mr. Team Flight Brothers) is awesome, for sure.
However, bad idea for the contest, in my mind. Yes, we get to see some more dunkers (I don't even care about better dunkers, we need more than the four they've had for the past few years). Yet at the same time, I don't want to see amateurs at the NBA All-Star Weekend. I like to see NBA players break character for a second and have some fun outside of the flow of the offense and without having to play defense. Unfortunately, I believe the amateurs will outshine the NBA guys if they really are in the same contest.
Regarding Joe Alexander, I would love to see him in it. He was throwing it down in those online videos last year. Meanwhile, Rudy Fernandez did nothing and still got voted in. LeBron James will probably back out, just as I said when he declared himself in it during the Dunk Contest 2009.
Only way I would consider watching if Lebron attends. Something special would happen.
i agree. If lebron is in it something will definatley happen. Lebron is just a natural born athlete, as is Dwight. If you have those 2 plus others, unreal.
