Should comparisons to Jordan exist???

I for one can not understand why anyone would compare someone to M.Jordan.

I just do not get it. I understand out of site out of mind, but Jordan is in a league all by himself. There should not be any comparison to him.

I guess many have forgotten how dominant Jordan was, and how great of a closer he was. MJ made the game look way to easy.

No one who plays today can be compared to the man, so why are they doing it?????

Do you agree, or do you feel there is someone that can be compared to M.J?

I think you can make small comparisons. Like Kobe plays like Jordan. Or Lebron has a little of jordan in him. I don't like hearing he is better than jordan or he just as good jordan. In my opinion if jesus played basketball. You couldn't them on the same level.

The answer to this is no....... should not exist. Even though Kobe is the closest player to Jordan that I have ever seen play, and only needs one more ring to match him.......I don't make that comparison any more. If not for D. Wade's Height, and having Iverson syndrome ,I'd give it to Wade. I don't see Jordan in LBJ's game at all. I see James Worthy in LBJ's game more so than Jordan. What I mean by Iverson Syndrome is.......He plays balls to the wall,gets to the rack and hits the floor hard often, and is injury prone. To Iverson's credit..... at lease he knows how to play hurt. P.S. Let A.I back into the NBA.

No, the comparisons should not exist. I could argue that, for as good as Jordan was for the league, he was also terrible for the league in many regards.

Yeah Hype is the word, The media did that with Kobe when he first came to the NBA, and Jordan was still Playing. V. Carter got some hype as well. The media does this and sometimes we forget who starts these things.

Exactamente!!! Either Kobe Being Compared as a young jordan back in his younger days, or Lebron being labeled the Chosen one, this generation is quick to look for the next MJ. Stop Selling Kobe, Lebron, and D-Wade tickets with Michael Jordan's name on it

Truth of the matter is, its all wrong to compare dudes who's been in the league just a few years to All Time Greats

People think those three words are easy accomplishments, MJ Magic Bird, etc.. earned their names and places in history

Its not fair to start comparing dudes whole careers to those guys blood sweat and tears and accomplishments to some random stats or this hype bull about potential

Like them asking MJ about Lebron being on his level after he had one good 4th qtr against the pistons... he told them he has to do it night in and out consistently to even be asking that stuff.... so far LeBron has answered in failure as far as the post season goes

I grew up in Chicago watching and idolizing Jordan in the 90's. I think people are starting to really overrate him. I remember maybe 5 years ago when people were still debating whether he was number one. For some reason, it seems that he's unanimously being rated as the greatest ever.

I think he was extremely good, but it's getting to the point where people are turning him into a myth or legend. There have been similar players before and after in terms of success and ability. Of course comparisons to a human being can and should exist.

I think the only person it's safe to do with is Kobe. Kobe is basically like an identical clone of Jordan except whoever cloned him turned down the dials on each skill and talent to 8 or 9 instead of 11 or 12 (on a 10 scale).

Every time I start to think/wonder this, I fire up youtube and watch a few of the MJ highlight clips. You forget how unreal the guy was. MJ isn't overrated.

I don't think they should exist either and it's frustrating as **** when I see them. Like 23 said, let these guys carve out their own identities. They're all their own people. No one is going to be the same as Michael Jordan, just like no one is going to be the same as Tracy McGrady (random example).

I especially hate how the media expects certain players to be the exact same as Jordan himself and if they do something Michael wouldn't, they're automatically disregarded. LeBron is the most obvious example of this.

That one game in the '06 series against the Pistons (the season before he went off for 48 on them) still sticks out to me. The one where the game was winding down and LeBron kicked the ball out to an open Donyell Marshall for a great look. The next day the media annihilated him for that and ever since then I feel like LeBron felt he had to try and be something he wasn't because we and the media all wanted him to be just like Mike.

Also when he decided to join the Heat, all of the other stuff surrounding that aside (I know, there's a lot), a big reason he took shots for it was because "it wasn't what Michael would do".

The thing is, we should be letting these guys carve out their own career paths/legacies, not following something that's happened in the past.
