I'm rooting for Derek Fisher to succeed. Its so strange because in MyGM, I hired Fisher as an assistant and later on, I signed him as the head coach. He had grades of B- in Defense A in Offense and A in Potential. We managed 2 championships. What makes it even more strange is that my team was the Knicks. I wish him well.

Finally, something a Spurs fan and Suns fan can agree on!!!! I'm so happy to see this guy finally retire and stop attempting to torment the Spurs.

It could end being a good hire, but his salary seems a bit high for a guy with no level of coaching experience. He'll need a good staff, possibly Tex Winter or Jim Clemons, of veteran assistant coaches that can bring him along. He'll also need to realize that Jordan, Pippen, Shaq or Kobe won't be walking through that door to make the triangle offense, and role players like he was, look so good.

So is this the new trend now? Retiring veterans going right into coaching? (Kidd, Fisher) Only makes me wonder what old guy is gonna start getting targeted at the end of next season.
