Does the NBA need an age limit?

I say there's no doubt about it,because all of these high schooler thinking they're the shiz niz is ruining the game. It's forcing NBA coaches to teach them what they would've learned in college at a much easier pace.I really don't get it.It takes most of these high schoolers 4 years to adjust to the NBA level anyway so why not go to college for at least 3 years? If something doesn't happen soon the mid-range jumper will be completely lost for sure.

It would make the game better because vets wouldn't lose their job because the team decides to draft some unknown out of high school (many of which find themselves unprotected in the expansion draft this coming week). Sure there are guys like Kobe, Garnett, Shawn Kemp, Chocolate Thunder, LeBron who did well after making the jump. However, this sudden rush of high schoolers are costing the older vets their jobs, not because they aren't good enough, but because the team needs that roster space to let this kid sit for a few years.

Yes the game is getting bad when 12 high schoolers declare. To me if I was in the NBA it would be a slap in the face to think a boy could play with me a grown man.

I agree. There are always going to be exceptions, but I think the league is getting watered down by the influx of kids and expansion. 20 years ago these kids wouldn't have stood a chance in the NBA. Are they all talented? Yeah, but they aren't ready for the NBA. Most have to sit the pine the first 2-3 years before they even see considerable playing time (ex. Jermaine O'neal) They could have used that time getting valuble minutes in the NCAA.

maybe all the NBA needs is a defined, quality minor league system...look at Hockey and Baseball, kids get drafted out of high school all the time and we don't complain about that...NFL and NBA don't really have a minor league system, so that's why having all these youngsters hurts the draft currently

I remember Stern talking about improving the NBDL with NBA teams directly connected to their own "farm" team so that those guys who can't see any playing time with their NBA team can just be sent down so that he can improve and if he progresses, he's called back up.

If they manage to accomplish this, an age limit wouldn't be necessary.
