I apologize for inserting this trhend in another place previously.
Having said that I know perfectly well that Jerry West is Jerry West but I would like to know what you think of a change of the nba logo in honor of a great player who was Kobe Bryant.
Here could be a couple.
Everyone is free to have their own personal opinions, I was not a Kobe fan but his was a disappearance too big for the nba world and for all sport in general.

I don't think so.

He gets to have his #8 and #24 jersey retired by the Lakers.

He gets to have his #8 and #24 jersey retired by any other franchise that voluntarily chooses to do so.

He gets to have a statue at the Staples Center.

I think that is sufficient.

Plus how about this, Kobe is tied for the most MVP wins at the All-Star game, rename the trophy in his honor and you get to hand out the "Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP Award" in 20 days or so.

Are they going to change it again if say LeBron tragically dies in 10 years? Seems like a weird precedent to set. I do like that 2nd logo though.

It's a knee jerk reaction. But I'd be in favor of it. I don't really see a downside to this.

Sure change the logo. I don't have a problem if they change it to something different every year. It's just a marketing stamp for a giant corporation I don't see anything sacred about it

I’m up for it. I prefer the HOB version as It’s a modern take on the current logo. Jerry West is Jerry West but this NBA Legend just passed away in a tragic event...Probably the most tragic death I’ve seen in my life and I’ve been around a lot of death.

I'm not going to get into it fully with it still being so fresh on everyone's minds, but I see no reason to change the logo. Like I don't even fully comprehend why people are even suggesting it.

There are many ways to honor a legend like Kobe--and we will see a wide array of those ways--but I don't like the idea of changing the logo.

It’s not knee jerk...Fans have been wanting a logo change for a long time. I am not sure why but it was always a topic. Most wanted it to be MJ and with Kobe’s passing, everyone is just in agreement that it should be him. Not to mention he’s someone who represents the sport well. Add the fact that other people are coming out calling him a rapist, no wonder the petition has over 1.7 million supporters.

Not to mention Jerry has wanted it changed too. He wanted someone to replace him. I'm pretty sure he would love the idea of it being Kobe.
