NBA Rule question

I know you guys love these so here it is:

On an inbounds in your half of the court, is there any time, EVER, when you can NOT inbound it in your opponent's half?

Meaning... can you inbound it behind the half court line at ANY time, during any dead ball scenario? Whether it be from the sidelines or baseline.

This just happened in the Knicks game yesterday. Wizards inbounded from the baseline into the backcourt and got called for a violation. But i think Breen said that if it was during the last 2 minutes of a quarter, it would have been legal? Something like that, I forget exactly what he said.

So you can NOT call a timeout in your half of the court, go to inbounds and throw the ball into your opponent's half without a violation, unless you are within 2 minutes of the 4th and OT.

I didn't know about the 2 min. rule. I assumed it was whenever. Interesting.

Yeah, wasn't this the glitch in 2k10? I always wondered about that rule.
