Re: 2018 NBA Draft Prospects

Both seem to have a pretty good feel for the game and IQ, rare for young bigs. Very different players obviously.

Bagley seems like he needs to get in better shape, not uncommon for freshman bigs. For the first few minutes of the clip one of the things that stood out to me was his lack of explosiveness, then he had the one-handed flush and the putback on his own miss. Still, not sure he'll ever be a great athlete at the next level.

His face-up style fits with modern basketball. Can tell he'll develop into a good shooter with range. Already handles it very well for a 6'11" kid. Didn't have much interest in passing the ball. Has no right hand - he isn't quiet on Julius Randle's level but he'll def have to work on his right.

Ayton seems to be a willing passer and fit in with Arizona's offense smoothly. Back to the basket player, those types always take longer to develop. Strong player, doesn't rush. Didn't do anything to blow me away. Just seems solid. Jumper is very rigid but his form isn't the worst.

Based on first glimpses, there's no way I'm taking either of them over Doncic. Bagley is more intriguing than Ayton. That may change over the next six months.

Was going to type up a recap of my thoughts, but you pretty much hit on everything I was going to say haha.

Ayton kinda surprised me though. I remember reading scouting reports about how he tends to float around the perimeter rather than using his strength to post-up and punish people inside. He was posting up a lot more in these first two exhibitions than I expected. Jumper doesn't look too bad; it's super flat though.

I concur that Bagley is a more intriguing prospect at this point, but I'm interested to see how Ayton develops as the season goes on.

He's gonna be a stud, but it seems like he pretty much only got off against them due to being a lot bigger. I'm excited to see him match up against more legitimate big men, but the mobility he plays with is almost always going to be a major mismatch.

Definitely a good read. I'm really interested in Hamidou Diallo. He has physical tools galore and has some nice fundamentals defensively already.

I think he's a guy that will shoot like **** in college but has a chance to become a good shooter in the NBA; his footwork is an absolute mess right now, but the times that he gets his footwork right, his shots all look good. He has a nasty habit of kicking both of his feet off to the side in opposite directions right now though and it's creating some REALLY ugly misses.

Isaiah Washington is another one that has some god awful footwork on his jump shots; he literally crosses his legs when he shoots.

Gary Trent Jr, is pretty good too. Jumper is on point.

Bags has a motor I haven't seen on a superstar in a while. He moves so much.

Duval can't shoot for the life of him. I'm sure his jumper will only improve as the season goes.
