If Tatum keeps developing at this rate they may not “need” what Hayward brings, but the Warriors didn’t “need” KD either.

I agree with you, but I don't agree with paying $30 mil for "solid and steady".

And the Warriors didn't need KD, but they DID NEED a SF and they had the $$ available to get the best SF in the FA market. The Celtics are stacked at 1-3 and have more pressing needs at 4-5, which is why I say they don't need Hayward.

If Horford goes down, then what? Wouldn't you like to have depth at that position rather than overloaded depth at 2/3?

Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Thread

Tatum was starting for them at the 4 to start the season then the Hayward thing happened. I'm assuming they will go back to that after this season. I don't see anyone they could get to upgrade what Horford gives them. He's their best passer in the half-court and stretches the floor better than most bigs as well, he's also a huge reason their defense is what it is. They could get an upgrade over Baynes or Morris, but I'm not trading Hayward to upgrade my 7th and 8th man, especially since Theis looks like he'll be in that mix as well. And since Baynes and Morris are so good at their role and accept their roles, not easy to come by.

That's why Brown was in my Kawhi trade. If they move him they don't have overloaded depth at the 2-3 spot. Hayward-Kawhi-Tatum starting and Smart off the bench. Exactly what they had to start this season.

Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Thread

They play “positionless basketball” anyway so saying they’ll be short on 4’s and 5’s is moot anyway since they’re playing guys out of their traditional position anyway.

That pretty much goes for much of the league too since the trend over the last few years has been to go small.

No, I would not trade Tatum or Brown for Kawhi. Ainge however will trade anyone at anytime so you never know what could happen. But I just want one full season of the core guys we already have, if that’s ok.

Should we spend our time worrying about how many shots Westbrook is going to shoot instead?

We could talk about how Milwaukee will end up interviewing a bunch of good coaching candidates before hiring Monty Williams or Steve Clifford instead.
