Despite being in line for a top 3 pick in the 2019 draft Lue might secretly be glad he got fired. You look at their roster and them already being way over the cap for next year with just 9 guaranteed contracts, they're two years out from being able to actually rebuild. Lue should just come join Kurt Rambis with a cushy gig as a Senior Basketball Advisor on the Lakers if he doesn't want to be an in studio guy.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

I dont know why anyone would want to work for the Cavs owner, the guy fired David Griffin, as GM, who was doing a good job, and now you fire Lue who has guided the team to the last 3 final appearances and winning 1 Championship.

Lue deserved better than this, the Cavs probably have the worst constructed roster in the entire NBA, no coach, is going to be able to win with that group of players.

Now how great a coach Lue is, who knows, when you have the best player in the NBA, along with having the luxury of a weak EC, that does give you a advantage in getting to the finals, like he has.
But the way to tell if a guy can truly coach, is if they can take less talent, and be competitive. Lue was never given that chance.
I cant really stand Eric Spoelstra, probably because I cant stand Pat Riley, lol, but Spoelstra is a darn good coach, he hasnt had all that much talent since Lebron left, but while the Heat havent been great, he tends to get them to play competitive

Lue should have been given the season, anyway, to see if he could get that team to atleast compete hard, before firing the guy. After all, your going to be a lottery team, with that roster, and likely will be the worst team in the NBA, regardless of who the coach is.

In all seriousness, I hope he gets another chance somewhere else. Don’t really know if he got a fair shake in this post-Lebron era considering they were never on the same page as far as direction goes. Definitely feels like a panic move 6 games in.
Cmon fam

David Blatt went 30-11 after making the finals and they fired him for Lue.

Full circle.

Also, how many fired coaches are they paying at the same time now man..sheesh

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

Well Lebron is gone now so what other excuse would they have to fire him, 6 Games into a post-Lebron world?

If you knew it was all Lebron, then why not just blow it up as soon as he left?

There’s only one common denominator in all of this but he can’t get fired because he owns the team.

The Suns are in the process of buying out Tyson Chandler and the Lakers are expected to be the front-runners for his services!

YES! He's old but Lakers need a damn backup center!

As @TheSteinLine reports, center Tyson Chandler is getting a buyout with the Suns and will become a free agent upon clearing waivers. Chandler will sign with the Lakers, league sources tell ESPN.
This is a good get for us, we badly needed a true center to share minutes with McGee.

Excellent pickup, although he's 36 he's still really active and a good defender. I'm only worried that he's going to have trouble with gassing out since they're going to need him a lot and the perimeter defense is weak.

It's crazy to say, but McGee is the better player now, so I feel like a 28-20 split in McGee's favor makes sense. When or if other teams go really small, that's when Kuz, or Bron, or Williams, and eventually Wagner, can play the 5.
