This seems entirely unique in comparison to anything else I've seen in my lifetime.

In terms of suddenly suspending a season-in-progress, we saw that in 1994 when MLB went on strike and the World Series was cancelled. Shame because the Montreal Expos had the best record in the league at the time (with just a bit over a month left) and a deep run could have maybe altered their existence.

I remember Sports Illustrated running an issue with their own version of how they thought the 1994 season would have played out, treating it as though it'd actually happened.

Also, Matt Williams was making a run at Roger Maris' home run record that year, too.

Maybe I shouldn't rush to judgement but emotions are right now but man this really sucks on so many levels

According to ESPN, Gobert wasn't at today's walk-through and he wasn't at the arena tonight. Coach Snyder had told reporters that Gobert was out, but Jazz executives said that Gobert was questionable.

I only bring this up because if Gobert wasn't playing tonight, why would he be in a Jazz uniform talking to reporters this evening?

That could have been Vince Carter's last game.

I am Italian, I believe that the problem has been taken very lightly by all governments, now we have practically closed almost everything here, the same thing you must do as you are a great country but with a health system different from ours and the poor people don't know if they are sick or not.
The only thing to do is to close everything and then start again also because now the economic damage is done.
Come on USA

Dont be surprised if everything is cancelled for the next month or so. E3 was cancelled, Chicago's St Patricks Day parade was cancelled. NBA and the G-League postponed. NHL is seriously considering postponing. MLB might play w/o fans or postpone.

Just really wild and crazy tbh.

How long will the suspension last?

The regular-season stoppage will be at least two weeks so all players affected can go through quarantine and, hopefully, be cleared of the virus. In reality, it will likely be longer. By comparison, when the virus broke out in China, the Chinese Basketball Association suspended play in late January. They are beginning the process of restarting the league in early April, roughly a 10-week layoff.
