Also to be fair, I don’t think you get to blame the media and Twitter when these athletes continue to do stuff like this

He posted that right after the Lakers/Suns game. These guys are smart, media savvy people. They know what they’re doing most of the time with this stuff.

Maybe he thought people had heard the song or understand Nipsey’s story was about staying dedicated. He’s not gonna use a Nipsey quote to say “hey guys I’m switching up”.

Or maybe he wants there to be questions because he could just as easily just say "I'm committed to bringing a championship to Portland PERIOD. No speculation needed." Typically you use song lyrics to talk for you because you don't want to look like the bad guy for what you're about to do or you plan to make an unpopular decision but you can deflect to the old 'I was just quoting a song a like' line once the reports start coming out of what your real intentions were.

Not saying you're wrong, just that there's much easier ways to say something that nobody will be mad at than the thing that may get you looked at side ways.
