New WENB PES 2012 Preview Code Impressions

7 days I’ve had preview code. A week of non-stop PES 2012 action. And still, I can’t put my finger on why the game has me playing it consistently. I mean, it’s development code, it’s unfinished, it has problems, but I don’t care. I want to play, and keep playing. But I should care, right? It’s these constant questions that keep going through my mind as I finish up another hour of PES.

Read that a few days ago and while his impressions sound promising I still need to play for myself. I am very excited to see the final build of this game.

I am as well. At this point, I'm still planning on waiting to get PES until some time after release, but that plan could evaporate quickly. It's hard to buy & play three new games in a few weeks (NHL, FIFA, PES) and since it takes some time for the best option files to be completed, PES usually is the odd man out.

Very true. I'll most likely pre-order FIFA, as it's easy to immediately jump into something more than exhibition games.

I will say, I haven't been this excited for both games for awhile, if ever. Usually, I'm far more excited for one and the other is a maybe purchase. This year, I'm certain I'll get both.

I will get both too. But, I am more excited for PES. Ever since I started playing Master League Online (Coach Mode) I have died and gone to heaven.

I've learned over the last few years to take anything W11 Blog says with a grain of salt.

I *really* want PES to be great this year, but until they get rid of the clunky animations and bring the fluidity of the play up to FIFA-like standards, all the great AI and other stuff under the hood just doesn't matter.

One could make the opposite argument for FIFA. Until it brings the AI around to something more than route one soccer tactics and fixes the dead on passing accuracy, all the great animations and beautiful graphics don't matter.

I am really torn over what game to get. I wish we could just mash the two together. I don't have time to own two soccer games this holiday.

It's funny that you say that, because I am the complete opposite of you. I love PES for it's awesome AI and different options it gives you when attacking. To each his own though. Also, from the gamescom videos I have been watching, it looks much much smoother overall. Can't wait to try the demo next week!
