Anyone knows how the football system works in Columbia?

In a Categoría Primera A season, there are like two rounds, one is first half, one is second half, and the final winner is determined by the top 8 teams making the playoff, so I don't understand the point wining the first half if the points are added with the second half points, and also how the teams will qualify for the fake Copa Libertadores? Thanks in advance.

After a little research, not sure if this is entirely accurate but this is what I came up with:

1st half (Apertura): play each team once. Top eight teams play a tournament, the winner to play in Superliga Columbiana.

2nd half (Clausura): essentially the same and standings are reset. Play each team once. Top eight teams play a tournament, the winner to play in Superliga Columbiana.

To qualify for Copa Libertadores:

-be the previous year copa libertadores champion

-Winner of the first half and second half are given a spot in the group stage.

-runner up of the first half and second half are given a spot in the 16 team first stage which takes place before the group stage.

-The winner of each half's eight team tournament plays each other in Superliga Columbiana. The winner there plays in Copa Sudamericana, and the winner of that tournament is given a spot in the copa libertadores group stage.

I've been researching all the leagues lately and Wikipedia is the best resource. And it's consistent across leagues in how it's presented.
