PES is still fun, and a vital alternative to FIFA. Between the two, I've probably played PES twice as much as FIFA this year. It was the other way around last year.
Still, legacy issues are there to remind us of the difference in time and money devoted to the development of gameplay. PES still has issues with responsiveness, clunking attempts at clearances, CPU teammates not reacting quickly enough (or at all) to sudden changes of possession or 50/50 balls, lack of penalty calls etc.
When we get to the point where we don't see our CPU teammates ignore an open shot at goal after the ball was tackled away from a user-controlled player because they are still in "wait for a pass" mode, I think it will be an improvement.
