Excellent article, thanks KG.

One thing I'm wondering is how much brand value/identity plays into this. For example, landing Juventus as an exclusive is great for Konami, but how much value is Juventus losing by not having their brand in FIFA, one of the highest-profile video games on the market? That has to account for something I would think.

Can't say I feel sorry for EA about this. *Exclusive licensing seems to be their answer to everything when it come to sports videogames. Now they're getting a little taste of their own medicine. *The main thing that worries me is it's probably going to get worse between these two companies before it gets better, *and at the end, *that's a bad thing for us, the consumers.

Thanks Turbo!

100% agree on the "How much value is Juve losing...".

I think that's what Dortmund realized last year when they ditched PES for FIFA.

EA brought this on themselves with the way they used exclusivity to punish PES the past couple years and now they've started to lose out. Their greed, incompetence, and unwillingness to care about anything other than the immoral FUT is catching up with them.

Soccer licensing is dumb. It contributes to why I've never made a yearly purchase. If I have an itch, I'll simply re-purchase FIFA 19 to scratch it.

It sucks but the NFL is actually worse. At least we actually have competition
