Redskins Have The Worst Fanbase

I've grown up watching Skins games every Sunday. They haven't always been the best team. I've seen fans throw things at players, boo the Quarterback, leave early, etc. And then death threats to Josh Morgan.

I mean I understand frustration, but who does that to a team they "love"?

I've been to a few games and all I hear are people "were going to lose" "I wasted my money" etc.

I know this isn't the same for every team. Have you seen New Orleans boo Drew Brees? We're 0-3. Mark Brunell would throw an interception even if their up a few scores and the crowd would just turn to boos.


Not to rant or anything, but living near DC and Redskin "fans" always insulting their team is embarrassing.

Now I hear people calling RG3 a bust because their 1-2. Seriously?

First, those people you are talking about are not fans they are "fans". Washington DC is a transitional city. People from all over the world are transplanted there. True Redskins fans are not represented by the vocal majority. I see that you live in Virginia, yet have a saints avatar. I can only assume that you are one of those transplants.

That said, Washington fans have been nickled and dimed by their owner for years and are clearly frustrated. I would thread carefully before calling out an entire fan base. You say that New Orleans fans wouldn't boo Drew Brees, did they boo Aaron Brooks? Did they not show up to games for years, did they wear brown paper bags? Did their owner threaten to move the team? Just because your team is relevant and has a strong fan base now, doesn't mean they always have been "great" fans.

But yes the Redskins fans are horrible, having sold out every home game for decades regardless of the crappy on field product. Carry on with your baseless and inaccurate claims.

With that logic, every single NFL team has the "worse" fan base. There are always ignorant/irrational fans of ANY team. That certainly doesn't mean that all of the fans are like that. You know that saying about a few bad apples?

With regard to passion for their team, I'd regard Washington's fanbase as one of the best in the NFL, actually.

I try not to "rate" fans other than how much they care about their team. In other words, I don't think the only good fans are St. Louis Cardinal fans who clap and cheer for everything. Good fans to me are simply those who care (and I'll add that they typically care regardless of performance).

I'm a Cowboys fan who lived in VA for 10 years and can honestly say that I sometimes wish my own group were more like the Redskins fan-base. So what if they boo? I'd rather have an angry crowd than an indifferent one.

Now, the death threats and all that, I agree: that's petty and terrible. I don't think that's indicative of the general fan-base though. You have morons who take things to far in every group...not really fair to generalize that to all Redskins fans.
