He doesn't have an agent.

That was implied and why he demanded a trade when he is already up for trade for 2 1st round picks. There is nothing to demand.

He needs an agent.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

To be fair I've seen several successful jokes that are built around "Lamar's conversations with his agent"

This recent development would go nicely with the evil Kermit meme.

Normal Kermit/Lamar: "I'm in a good spot, I'm free to negotiate with any team"

Evil Kermit/Lamar's agent: "You should demand a trade"

Unless the Colts want to mortgage any future they have, I don't see him playing this upcoming season and potentially being totally done after the Ravens tag him the next season. His ego is taking a huge hit and I'm not sure he gives in and admits defeat.

Those 2 1s or Lamar... he infinitely makes the Colts a better team. It's a no brainer. And, Indy can just wait until after the draft and give Bal '24 and '25.

He makes them better but the cap impact plus giving up 2 1st is probably more than he improves them. They really have no other choice unless they want to wait for the QB.

It's a bird in hand vs 2 in the bush situation. Is the rest of the team ready to win now and you risk all the issues or do you sacrifice short-term for a better long-term future.

Spoiler Alert: There is no “long term” planning in the NFL. And most, if not all teams don’t care to do that either.

Not to mention, we know how elite QBs can lift the floor and raise the ceiling of other players around them.

Lamar is not that kind of QB though.

Typically elite QBs raise the ceiling of their supporting cast because they do things like "throwing a guy open" or knowing what the defense is going to do (e.g. knowing where the pressure is coming from to get rid of the ball quick and in the right spot to make the line look better)

That doesn't apply to Lamar, even if we all agree that he is elite. He doesn't make his teammates look better (maybe the RBs), he puts on a spectacular one man show.

The conversation the Colts are having is how long can any one man show last in such a physical sport and is it worth building a team uniquely suited to that one man show. Most elite QBs are plug and play, Lamar is not.
