Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

Nobody(me)is saying they aren’t valuable or not important.

But using a Top 5-10 pick on one isn’t a good use of that pick, especially when you can get the same production with a 3rd-4th round pick.

Unless it’s a generational talent at the position coming out but it’s been years since we’ve seen one come out at that position(AP).

Its not just that. Teams also have realized that the following is true:

Decent RB behind a good oline: Good running game
Good RB behind a subpar oline: subpar running game

Good RBs are valuable, but their value mostly comes as a bonus in the form of yards after contact or big chunk plays. Why pay a premium for a top tier RB when I can pay a smaller fee for a "good enough" RB and use the cap savings to improve the rest of the team and get equal or better results?

Has happened with the Steelers recently. When the line got a bit better later last year, Najee and Jaylen got going. They Najee picked him 24th which wasn't too bad but Jaylen came in as a UDFA.

Yeah, that's why I'm more than okay with Eagles passing on Bijan. He would definitely fill the good RB behind a good OL, with a good running threat at QB. But that feels like a luxury. I was more okay than losing Miles Sanders. They can get similar production from a committee. Eagles usually throw to score, then run to win games. Plus Eagles don't throw passes to their RBs, for RBs to be that valuable in their offense.

then injuries happened, he wasn't really good, had a sorta bounce back year in 2022, but meh, good luck to him, a 5th seems fair, maybe he's a better system fit there, but it wasn't working in Detroit

I think he has a chance to be a pro bowlers this year.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

Budda Baker requested a trade from Arizona. Figured the news would come out soon since Baker followed the new common place act of unfollowing Arizona on social media. This is most likely because he has very little guaranteed money in his last 2 years of his contract. He's 27, but I could see him being traded for a 3rd round pick since the team will have to likely give him an extension that makes him the highest paid safety.

As a Eagles fan, I would be all for it since don't like our current safety group. But think it's realistic. It would be a very expensive secondary and the Hurts contract coming up
