Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

Looks like it's just incrementally better than the deal Hurts just got. We'll see how all the numbers shake out.

---

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Ravens and the star quarterback have agreed to terms on a five-year, $260 million contract, per sources informed of the situation.

Jackson's new deal includes $185 million in total guarantees, per Rapoport. The $52 million-per-year pact makes Jackson the NFL's newest highest-paid player.

There was a fair amount of speculation that perhaps the main gap between the two sides comes down to the common question of just what exactly is guaranteed money (guaranteed at signing vs total guaranteed).

Supposedly the deal offered last September was $175 total guaranteed but only $130 GTD at signing.

Seems like Lamar was willing to eat a little crow and lower his demands and the Ravens in turn increased their offer just enough to put him over Hurts.

I'm curious to see how Bengal fans view this deal because they next.

After reading the specifics of Jackson's deal, two words come to mind...absolutely ridiculous!

If Kenny Pickett blows up, in a few years the AFC North could be collectively paying its quarterbacks 1 Billion Dollars.

Its not as much as I would have expected guarantee-wise.

I thought it would be more Watson-esque but it moreso follows the "normal" QB contract curve.

As a Ravens fan we've never had so much riding on one player before, so it makes me nervous. Sure, we gave Flacco a big contract but that was after our SB win.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

I sure as hell hope this doesn't happen, as was mentioned in the article the Steelers only put up 30 points once, that is in no way gonna cut it with the likes of Cincy, Buffalo and KC.
